Itβs easy to get complacent when youβre in a long-term relationship. My generation seems to rush into it faster and faster each year. One second weβre on a first date and the next weβre picking out furniture together. But every once in awhile we need to take a step back and remind ourselves that weβre only human.
Being in a relationship doesnβt mean you have to be an item. So many same-sex couples nowadays feel pressure to prove they can βmake itβ in this Grindr obsessed, open relationship thriving, hookup generation and they become fixated on becoming a boring married couple.
But letβs face it β¦ these kinds of couples lose the spark fast.

Thereβs nothing wrong with being boring (believe me I can be very boring), but when in a relationship itβs crucial to remember life isnβt always about work and paying bills. You and your man can be a very strong team together. Partying is a great way to shape that quality, and hereβs why:
1. It tells the world youβre PROUD
Going out with your man sends a message not only to the world, but to you as well, that youβre proud. This subconsciously registers with him and everyone around you. We all need to feel wanted in a relationship, so going out arm-in-arm with your boyfriend keeps us balanced.
2. It strengthens your loyalty to one another
One night, my ex-boyfriend and I went out and he spotted a guy across the bar trying to hit on me. My ex threw his arm around me and started kissing me β the guy got the message. It was a small gesture but it enhanced my trust in an odd way. I felt safe.
The same kind of loyalty is sharpened anywhere you bring your man. Letβs face it, one of the best parts of being in a relationship is having a partner in crime! A man to always have your back (even if he knows you might be in the wrong), to know you always have someone to make out with when the drinks start pouring, knowing you have a man to go home and play with. Now, that’s loyalty.
3. Being drunk together is amazing
Getting drunk with your boyfriend is always a good time, mainly because you donβt need to get drunk on your own β unless youβre an angry drunk, in which case itβs best to stay in your room.
When you get buzzed, the environment affects your mood. When youβre with someone you love and trust, believe me itβs always going to be good. Not to mention it leads to drunk and dirty sex nearly every time (youβre not going to finish that Netflix movie, so donβt even bother).
4. It reminds you how sexy he is
Iβm never more attracted to a man than when I watch him socialize. In the back of my mind, I think, thatβs mine and heβs coming home with me. Itβs the sexiest thing. Sometimes, you forget how sexy your man is when weβre confined in your apartments with the dog and cable. Itβs good to unleash each other to the world so you can reignite the spark.
5. It gets you out of the apartment
Over time, long-term relationships tend to get heavy over time β thatβs their foundation. You can get so comfortable that eventually your nerves disappear and all that exists is delivery.com and a long night of board games. The best thing about partying is that it forces you to go out.
Go to your friendβs birthday party. Go to that show your coworkerβs producing. Go to a local bar for happy hour with friends. Go to that opening party you saw on your way to work. Do it!

Socializing as a couple strengthens the bond and allows you to escape the βrelationship bubbleβ we all feel after a certain point. Going out as a team reminds you just how valuable he is (and vice versa).
