Jeff Molina’s Unexpected Coming Out
In an unexpected turn of events, Jeff Molina, a UFC flyweight fighter, came out as bisexual. He came out on social media following the leak of an intimate video on Thursday, March 16. Molina’s announcement has made him the first openly LGBTQ+ male fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Molina’s Career in the UFC
Molina gained fame for his fights in the flyweight division of the UFC league. With a professional mixed martial arts record boasting 11 wins and only two losses, he has made a name for himself in the competitive world of fighting.
Addressing the Video Leak
Following the leak of the intimate video, Molina took to social media to share a heartfelt coming-out statement. In his message, he expressed disappointment at not being able to come out on his own terms and explained his reasons for keeping his dating life private. He wrote:
“Welp… this f*cking sucks. TLDR: I’m bi. Not the way I wanted to do this, but the chance to do it when I was ready was taken from me. I’ve tried to keep my dating life private from social media. I’ve dated girls my whole life and suppressed feelings I had throughout high school being on the wrestling team, throughout college pursuing MMA, and even after making part of the dream happen and getting into the UFC.”

Fears of Being Treated Differently
Molina continued by describing his concerns about how others in the sports world would perceive him if they knew he was bisexual. He said:
“I’m a pretty masculine dude, and that bro-y banter and [suspect] sense of humor has always been how I am. The thought of my buddies, teammates, and [people] I look up to looking at me different, let alone treating me different, for something I can’t control was something I couldn’t fathom. In a sport like this where a majority of the fans being the homophobic c*cksuckers they are, I didn’t see myself doing this during this part of my career. I wanted to be known for my skills and what I’ve dedicated the last 11 years of my life to, and not the ‘bi UFC fighter’ that I’m sure would just be translated to ‘gay UFC fighter.'”

Molina’s Message to the Person Behind the Leak
In his statement, Molina also addressed the person responsible for the video leak. He expressed his disappointment and said:
“To the awful disturbed person that decided to post this ishh, I hope it was worth it. At the end of the day, I know my character, morals, and who I am as a person. As much as I’m getting hated/shitted on, I’m getting an equal amount of support & it means a f*ck ton.”
