  • INTERVIEW: ‘Heartstopper’ Season 3 Stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke on Sex Scenes and Surprises

INTERVIEW: ‘Heartstopper’ Season 3 Stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke on Sex Scenes and Surprises

It’s official! Heartstopper is back for its third season, and we can’t wait to see what Charlie and Nick have in store for us. From seasonal fun to some spicy moments (yes, you read that right!), this season promises to be everything fans have been eagerly waiting for. We sat down with Joe Locke (Charlie Spring) and Kit Connor (Nick Nelson) to get all the juicy details. Spoiler: there’s even pug drama!

Charlie in Winter, Nick in Ginger Autumn?

To kick things off, I asked Joe and Kit which season best reflects their characters. With Heartstopper taking us through multiple seasons this year, their answers were as cozy as you’d expect.

“I think Charlie’s in fall slash autumn. I mean, spring would be the one because his last name’s Spring, but I think he’s actually more for winter,” Joe says with a thoughtful grin.

Kit, ever the cheeky one, chimed in with a classic response: “Autumn. Because he’s ginger.” But wait – a debate ensued! Kit passionately explained how the show’s golden filters give him a more “ginger” look, clarifying that he’s actually more of an “auburn, ready brown” kinda guy. “If they want to believe I’m ginger, that’s great. If they want to believe I’m auburn, that’s great. But if you think I’m blonde… you’re wrong.”

A Show That Hits Home – And Hearts

The conversation took a deeper turn as I asked both stars what it means to be part of such a groundbreaking series. Heartstopper is known for its heartfelt representation, and it’s clear how much that means to the actors.

“I think it is a real honor to be part of something that people actually care about,” Joe reflects. “It’s not just something they watch and forget about.” Kit added, “It’s rare to be in a show that has such an impact on people. That’s a special feeling as an actor.”

    A Serious Plot for Charlie

This season, Charlie faces some more intense storylines, and Joe talked about how he approached this shift with care. “The main thing was making sure we did it with truth and authenticity,” he says. “We didn’t want to be disrespectful to anyone who’s gone through similar things. We worked hard to get it right.”

Judging by Joe’s sincerity, fans can expect a storyline that feels real and impactful, making Charlie’s journey all the more touching.

    Pug Drama and Fresh Faces

Now, let’s talk about everyone’s favorite new addition – a pug named Doug. But as Kit revealed, there was some behind-the-scenes dog drama. “Doug was a charming little man, but he wasn’t the first pug on set,” Kit teased. “Mango was the first one, but we had creative differences. Doug just aligned with my style more.”

But Heartstopper isn’t just about adorable pets. This season introduces new characters, including Haley Atwell as Nick’s aunt. While we sadly won’t see Olivia Colman return as Nick’s mom, Kit assured fans, “Haley is incredible, and we were so lucky to have her.”

    The “S” Word… and More!

When I asked Joe if he could tease anything from the new season, he dropped a bombshell: “Sex?” Fans, brace yourselves. The two stars discussed how filming these more intimate moments was both “wonderful” and “deeply, deeply, deeply” important for their characters’ development.

“It’s a vulnerable situation,” Kit admits, “but we had an intimacy coordinator looking out for us.” Joe added that it was the perfect introduction to a side of acting they hadn’t explored before. And honestly, we can’t wait to see how this shapes their on-screen chemistry!

    What to Expect

As the season explores deeper topics like mental health, relationships, and asking for help, Kit leaves us with a heartfelt message: “Hopefully, we can make people feel comfortable and seen, and educate on how to deal with these kinds of issues.”

Whether it’s Charlie and Nick’s relationship growing stronger, or unexpected new faces (and pugs), Heartstopper Season 3 is about to give fans all the feels.

Mark your calendars for October 3rd, grab your cozy cardigans, and get ready for a season filled with love, laughs, and plenty of heart. You don’t want to miss this!

Halsey Reveals Lupus and Rare T-Cell Disorder Diagnosis, Announces New Music

Halsey, the artist who never shies away from real talk, opened up to their fans online while announcing their new single, The End. The singer shared an intimate glimpse into their health struggles on Instagram, captioning, “Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive. Short story long, I wrote an album. It begins with The End. Out now.”

Raw and Real: Inside Halsey’s Health Struggles

Halsey revealed snippets of their medical journey in a series of heartfelt videos and photos. While they didn’t disclose their exact diagnosis right away, they tagged The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Lupus Research Alliance.

One poignant clip shows Halsey, who uses she/they pronouns, massaging their legs and admitting, “I feel like an old lady.” Talking to someone off-camera, they said, “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick. At 30, I’m having a rebirth, and I’m not going to be sick, and I’m going to look super hot and have lots of energy and I’m just going to get to redo my twenties in my thirties.”

    A Song from the Heart

Halsey’s new track, The End, dives deep into their health journey. The lyrics pull no punches: “Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain.” The song’s raw honesty reflects their ongoing battles and determination.

    Halsey’s Health Update

Today, Halsey took to Instagram again to share more about her journey and the overwhelming support from fans. “Thank you guys for the unbelievable amount of love for The End and the support you’ve shown me since its release,” she wrote. “I realize everyone is catching up with news I’ve held in for a very long time, and I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to share.

“In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life.”

Despite the rocky start, Halsey has managed to get their health under control with the help of dedicated doctors. They shared, “After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.”

Halsey ended the update with a heartfelt message to her fans, expressing their eagerness to return to the stage. “I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all. Singing and screaming my heart out.”

    Openness Through the Years

Halsey has always been transparent about their health. Back in 2016, they opened up about their endometriosis diagnosis. Fast forward to 2022, and they revealed they were also dealing with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

“I’ve learned that if I want to speak about something going on in my life, to make the narrative positive rather than negative,” Halsey shared with Entertainment Weekly in 2017. “So rather than being like, ‘My life sucks because I had to have surgery for my endometriosis,’ [I should] be like, ‘Hey, guys, I’m recovering from my surgery, and how cool is it that I still get to be a performer?’”

    A Fiery Response

In a fan-captured video, Adele stopped mid-performance at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum to address the heckler. With the poise of a queen, she snapped back, “Did you come to my f—ing show to say ‘Pride sucks?’ Are you f—ing stupid? Don’t be so f—ing ridiculous.” Her words hit harder than her high notes.

Adele didn’t just stop at that. She threw in, “If you’ve got nothing nice to say, shut up, alright?” The crowd erupted in cheers, showing just how much they appreciated her standing up for what’s right.

    A Longtime LGBTQ+ Ally

Adele has always waved the rainbow flag high. Last year, she wowed her audience in Las Vegas by wearing a rainbow flag dress for Pride Month. She declared, “I’ll be celebrating it all month long. Happy Pride!” In 2022, she added extra flair to her London Hyde Park show by waving a Pride flag, much to the delight of her fans.

Her support goes back even further. In June 2016, Adele dedicated a heartfelt performance at Belgium’s Sportpaleis to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla. • Jessie J Apologizes for Past Remarks on Her Sexuality in New Song

Jessie J Apologizes for Past Remarks on Her Sexuality in New Song

Pop sensation Jessie J, best known for her hit “Bang Bang,” has issued a heartfelt apology to her ex-girlfriend through the lyrics of an unreleased song performed recently. The singer’s candid expression came during a live performance at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, stirring both surprise and admiration among the audience.

    Revisiting the Controversy

Jessie J’s journey with her sexual identity has been both public and tumultuous. She first opened up about being bisexual in 2011, only to later describe it as “a phase” and confirm her interest in men exclusively, which sparked a significant backlash. The statement, made during her rapid rise to fame, was heavily criticized for its impact on the bisexual community and for appearing to dismiss her previous relationships with women.

    A Song of Apology

During her live performance, Jessie J unveiled “Complicated” (a title the internet has adopted, though it remains unofficial). The song includes the lyrics: “2012, I broke up with my beautiful girlfriend. With the press in my face, called it a phase, babe I’m sorry.” This line, in particular, elicited a strong reaction from the crowd, highlighting the singer’s regret over her past comments.

    Reflections and Regrets

In past interviews, such as with Billboard, Jessie J has expressed remorse for referring to her bisexuality as a phase, noting the insensitivity of the comment. “I’m a talker; I wear my heart on my sleeve. But sometimes I just have to know when to shut up,” she told Billboard, acknowledging the learning curve that comes with living in the public eye.

Furthermore, Jessie J has addressed the harsh criticism she faced on social media platforms, explaining that she never lied about her sexuality but was rather pigeonholed by the media and public perceptions. “I was young and I experimented! Who hasn’t? Not with just this topic, but anything! It’s part of life! No lies there,” she explained, adding that her record label had shown support regardless of her sexual orientation.

    Moving Forward

Jessie J’s latest gesture of reconciliation and acknowledgment of her past missteps represents a significant moment in her career and personal life. By publicly addressing and apologizing for her actions, she not only sets a precedent for accountability but also opens up a conversation about the complexities of sexual identity in the public eye.

Elon Musk Urges JK Rowling to Abandon Transgender Debate on Social Media

Recently, tech billionaire Elon Musk, who’s no stranger to his own share of controversy, reached out to J.K. Rowling with an unexpected suggestion.

The Harry Potter author, known for her heated remarks on transgender issues, was advised by Musk to steer her social media focus towards more “interesting and positive content.” This advice comes after Rowling posted a lengthy, 700-word message last month reiterating her stance on transgender issues, which Musk found to be a bit too much even for his taste.

Related | Daniel Radcliffe Responds to J.K. Rowling’s Anti-Trans Rhetoric – “It makes me really sad”

    The Background of the Controversy

Rowling has long been vocal about her views on transgender rights, often drawing criticism for what many see as trans-exclusionary feminist perspectives. Musk, on the other hand, while aligning with Rowling on gender debates, has also been known to amplify various forms of hate speech, including antisemitic theories and misinformation about race and immigration on his platform, X.

In his response to Rowling’s exhaustive post, Musk expressed agreement with her on gender issues but suggested a pivot to less divisive topics.

“While I heartily agree with your points regarding sex/gender, may I suggest also posting interesting and positive content on other matters?” Musk proposed, signaling perhaps a desire to soften the platform’s tone.

    A Shift in Platform Policy

Under Musk’s ownership, X has seen significant policy shifts, particularly concerning the moderation of content related to gender identity. Initially, Musk rolled back protections against misgendering and deadnaming. The LGBTQ+ community widely criticized this move, calling the platform “unsafe” for both users and advertisers.

However, recent months have seen a reversal of these decisions. X reinstated policies banning misgendering and deadnaming, contingent on reports from the individuals directly affected. This flip-flop in policy reflects the ongoing struggle within the platform to balance free speech with the protection of vulnerable communities.

    What’s Next for Rowling?

With Musk’s latest advice, the ball is now in Rowling’s court. Will she heed Musk’s call to shift her narrative focus, or will she continue to engage in the fiery debates that have characterized her post-literary career? As both figures navigate their influential positions in the public eye, their choices will undoubtedly shape their legacies and the discourse on social media platforms.

Revisiting the Pink: Are Cady and Regina Teaming Up Again?

Hold on to your tiaras, because a Mean Girls sequel might just be in the works, and fans are here for it! Could we see the return of Regina George and Cady Heron in the halls of high school—or perhaps, their adult lives?

The Buzz Straight from the Source

PEOPLE magazine recently spilled some seriously juicy details. Both Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, who breathed life into Cady and Regina back in 2004, are reportedly “open” to a sequel. The whispers around Hollywood are that Lohan, now 37, is all in. “She wants to do another [Mean Girls] and has a good relationship with her former cast members,” including Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert. A close source shared, “They are her friends and have been. Another film would be great for her and for audiences who loved the original.”

    What’s Up with McAdams?

Despite skipping a Walmart reunion ad last fall with Seyfried and Chabert, insiders say McAdams “would likely do a Mean Girls sequel if everything presented to her made sense.” She’s committed to other projects but has expressed interest in revisiting her role as queen bee Regina George, reflecting on how life might have shaped her character years later.

    Lingering Hopes and Dream Sequels

The Mean Girls ensemble has been vocal about their connections and their unique bond, often reminiscing about their time on set. In a heartfelt chat for Interview Magazine, Seyfried mused about the possibility of a sequel, saying, “A Mean Girls 2 is never going to happen, is it?” To which Lohan replied, acknowledging the special memories they hold, “Yeah, everyone’s still the same. It’s fun to have certain memories that we can’t share with anyone else.”

Is ‘Mean Girls 2’ Going to Happen?

Interestingly, the possibility of a sequel seems to hinge on Tina Fey, the original screenwriter. At the New York City premiere of the Mean Girls movie musical, where Lohan made a surprise appearance, Daniel Franzese hinted that the cast is ready to dive back in, saying, “You got to tell the boss lady over there… she’s the gatekeeper, so we’re all waiting.”

So, could a sequel be the natural next step?

What’s Next for Our Favorite Mean Girls?

With the 20-year mark approaching since the original movie’s debut, the nostalgia and affection for Mean Girls have only intensified. As we look forward to seeing where life has taken Cady, Regina, and the rest of the gang, the excitement and potential for a sequel continue to build. Will Tina Fey unlock the door for another round of Plastics’ shenanigans? Stay tuned.

  • Why Darren Criss Says He Is “Culturally Queer”

Why Darren Criss Says He Is “Culturally Queer”

Darren Criss, renowned for his role as the charming Blaine Anderson on Glee, has recently described himself as “culturally queer.” So, what does that mean?

A Trailblazer on and Off Screen

His portrayal of Blaine, the talented and openly gay lead singer of the Dalton Academy Warblers, helped shape one of television’s most memorable queer couples alongside Chris Colfer’s character, Kurt Hummel.

Beyond Glee, Criss continued to influence the queer narrative through his performances. His role in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace as Andrew Cunanan earned him critical acclaim, including a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe. These roles deepened his connection and respect for the queer community, which he openly celebrated at a recent appearance at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo.

“It was f**king awesome,” Criss exclaimed to an enthusiastic crowd, reminiscing about portraying a gay relationship (Glee) on mainstream TV. He added, “Nowadays, we just call it a relationship on TV. But to contextualize it, a gay relationship on mainstream Fox, that’s a pretty cool thing to be a part of.”

    Why “Culturally Queer”?

The term “culturally queer” might puzzle some, but Criss clarified it with a cheeky confidence. Growing up in San Francisco, a city known for its vibrant queer communities, Criss was deeply influenced by the culture from a young age.

“I have been so culturally queer my whole life,” he shared, shedding light on his upbringing. “Not because I’m trying to be cool but because I am trying to be cool. The things in my life that I have tried to emulate, learn from, and be inspired by are 100 percent queer as f**k.”

He also reflected on the profound impact of his experiences during the ’90s in San Francisco, witnessing the struggles and resilience of the queer community firsthand.

    Should Straight Actors Play Gay?

In 2018, Criss made a significant decision about his career trajectory. After playing three high-profile gay characters, he announced that he would no longer pursue queer roles. “There are certain [queer] roles that I’ll see that are just wonderful,” he told Bustle. “But I want to make sure I won’t be another straight boy taking a gay man’s role.”

There has long been a discussion in Hollywood around whether or not straight actors should play queer characters. Some actors have even come forward stating they want to see more gay actors in straight roles.

Then there is Eric McCormack who said it’s called acting for a reason. “There’s no part I’ve ever played where I wasn’t playing something I’m not. It’s part of the gig.”
