Jennifer Lopez Performs ‘Freedom’ Closing Out The Opening Worldpride with One Massive Chorus

Under the radiant lights of the RFK Festival Grounds, the world’s largest LGBTQ+ music festival roared to life this past weekend, delivering an unforgettable celebration of queer culture, music, and unapologetic pride. As part of the official WorldPride DC 2025 festivities, the WorldPride Music Festival united tens of thousands of fans from across the globe for two days of high-voltage performances, heartfelt messages of solidarity, and a powerful sense of community. Leading the charge was global icon Jennifer Lopez, who turned her headline set into a poignant tribute to love, identity, and freedom.

Lopez’s performance on Friday night wasn’t just a star-studded spectacle—it was the heartbeat of a weekend defined by unity and resistance. “We are singing and dancing right here on their front lawn, misbehaving. Yes we are,” she told a roaring crowd, just miles from the White House, during a climactic cover of George Michael’s song Freedom ’90. The performance, backed by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., swelled into a full-blown anthem of resilience, echoing through the night as a call to embrace joy and authenticity in the face of rising political tension.

The singer’s set, filled with career-spanning hits like “Let’s Get Loud,” “On The Floor,” and “Waiting for Tonight,” reached new emotional heights as rainbow lights washed over the crowd during Freedom, turning the festival grounds into a sea of unity and celebration. The moment wasn’t lost on Lopez, who has long been an outspoken ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

“Over the years, your love and your support have been a source of strength for me,” Lopez said, pausing between songs. “And today, I am here to celebrate you. I’m so happy to be able to be here to celebrate community, diversity, love, and freedom.”

The electrifying evening also featured the world premiere of her new single, Save Me Tonight, a collaboration with David Guetta, which she performed live for the first time. As a special bonus for fans, Lopez offered an exclusive sneak peek of her upcoming film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, set for release in October, teasing the multidimensional impact of her ongoing creative journey.

The two-day festival featured four immersive stages and a stacked lineup that showcased the diversity of queer music and performance. Alongside Lopez, standout acts included Troye Sivan, Kim Petras, Rita Ora, Zedd, Paris Hilton, Tinashe, Marina, Sasha Colby, Trisha Paytas, and Sofi Tukker, among others.

On Saturday, Sivan closed the festival with an emotional, magnetic set that included hits like “Rush,” “My My My!,” and “Bloom.” His performance, much like Lopez’s, doubled as a thank-you to the LGBTQ+ fans who have been with him from the start. “This community has given me everything,” he told the crowd, voice trembling as thousands sang along.

Kim Petras brought high-octane club energy with her signature blend of pop and electro bangers, while RuPaul delivered an iconic DJ set that had the audience voguing under the stars. Singer-songwriter RAYE brought vulnerability and soul, and Renee Rapp’s set, including her biting track “Poison Poison” dedicated to the current administration, emphasized that Pride is as much protest as it is celebration.

Throughout the festival grounds, interactive brand activations, wellness spaces, and bold art installations added layers of engagement and introspection. Hornitos Tequila, a major sponsor, set up a vibrant “Wall of Joy” photo activation, encouraging guests to leave messages of hope and love. Festival screens played queer stories, trivia, and media clips from favorites like Young Royals, Love, Simon, Queer Eye, and Glee—a continuous reminder that visibility matters in every form.

Produced by Dreamland’s Jake Resnicow, named one of OUT100’s Most Influential LGBTQ+ People of the Year, in partnership with Insomniac and Club Glow, the WorldPride Music Festival was more than a party. It was a political and cultural statement, boldly affirming that queer voices, art, and joy deserve space, spotlight, and safety.

The weekend’s high-energy sets were matched by moments of deep emotion. As Lopez stood center stage with the chorus behind her during Freedom, it became clear that this was no ordinary performance. The rainbow-lit stage, the live choir, and the sea of flags and tears in the crowd crystallized what Pride is truly about: liberation, visibility, and love.

Lopez’s ability to blend dazzling showmanship with heartfelt sincerity solidified her as the festival’s emotional anchor. From debuting new music and sharing sneak peeks of upcoming projects to honoring the community with every note and gesture, her set embodied the power of presence.

And that presence resonated far beyond the stage.

In a time when LGBTQ+ rights are under renewed threat in parts of the U.S., WorldPride DC 2025 stood tall as a radiant reminder of queer resilience. For two days, politics faded into the background as music, dance, and connection took center stage. The crowd—diverse in every imaginable way—was united in joy, protest, and celebration.

As the last note rang out and the lights dimmed on an unforgettable weekend, the message was clear: Pride is not just a month or a parade. It is a movement. And at WorldPride, that movement had a soundtrack.

A Historic Year: LA Pride Turns 55

This year marks a major milestone for LA Pride: 55 years of marching, dancing, and demanding equality. In honor of this legacy, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, with support from Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, has officially declared June 28 as “LA Pride – Christopher Street West Day” moving forward.

The proclamation recognizes LA Pride’s distinction as the world’s first permitted LGBTQ+ parade, a historic moment led by Christopher Street West in 1970, just one year after Stonewall.

“This year, we’re making all of LA Pride’s programming free and accessible for everyone on Parade Sunday,” said CSW Board President Gerald Garth. “We’re thrilled to welcome Alaska, Da Brat, and an incredible roster of performers. And we thank the County Board for recognizing the deep history of Pride in Los Angeles.”

Grand Marshals & This Year’s Theme

LA Pride also recently revealed its 2025 Grand Marshals:

    • Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts as Vanguard Grand Marshals

    • Andrew Rannells as Celebrity Grand Marshal

    • Trino Garcia and Adam Vasquez (aka viral couple TrinoxAdam) as Community Grand Marshals

The 2025 theme, “Pride Marches On,” celebrates the LGBTQ+ community’s resilience and unrelenting push for progress, even when the world pushes back.

    Stay Tuned

More details on the parade route, parking, transit options, and vendor list are expected soon. For the latest updates, follow @lapride on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

So shine your boots, fluff your wigs, and hydrate: Hollywood is about to turn into the queerest party of the year.

West Hollywood Just Closed Out One Festive and Gay Opening Weekend to Kick Off Pride Month

West Hollywood wrapped up three days of high-energy celebrations Sunday as thousands of people gathered for the annual WeHo Pride Parade, a centerpiece event honoring the LGBTQ+ community with music, dance, and a vibrant display of inclusion.

The weekend culminated with the iconic parade, which began at noon at the intersection of Crescent Heights and Santa Monica boulevards. From there, it headed west down the famed Santa Monica Boulevard, through the Rainbow District — a section stretching from La Cienega Boulevard to Doheny Drive — known for its rainbow flags and brightly colored crosswalks at San Vicente Boulevard. The procession concluded at Robertson Boulevard.

This year’s Parade Icons included actress and model Cara Delevingne, Emmy-nominated actress and filmmaker Nava Mau, “Love on the Spectrum” star Pari Kim, and former NFL punter and LGBTQ+ ally Chris Kluwe. The group was honored for their commitment to LGBTQ+ visibility, civic engagement, and advocacy.

“They’ve each made a big difference in popular culture by shining a light on LGBTQ+ voices, in pushing for social justice, and by helping more people feel seen,” West Hollywood Mayor Chelsea Lee Byers said in a statement leading up to the weekend. “As we come together for the WeHo Pride Parade, it fills my heart that their work and presence will lift our message of LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality, and our vision for positive change in the world for LGBTQ+ people everywhere.”

This year’s theme, “Pride Starts Here,” reflected West Hollywood’s deep-rooted history as a hub of LGBTQ+ activism and celebration. For over four decades, the city has hosted one of the largest Pride celebrations in the country, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

The festivities officially kicked off on May 22 with a Harvey Milk Day Celebration and the José Sarria Drag Pageant. That was followed by the WeHo Pride Arts Festival, a showcase of queer visual art, film, and performance that ran throughout the week leading into the parade.

Sunday evening also featured “Ground in Pride,” an outdoor wellness gathering at Plummer Park’s Vista Lawn. The event began with a gentle yoga session and ended with a sound bath experience under the sunset, offering a moment of calm after the weekend’s electrifying celebrations.

Meanwhile, the OUTLOUD Music Festival at West Hollywood Park drew massive crowds over the weekend. Saturday night was headlined by Grammy-winning artist Lizzo, whose set celebrated body positivity, empowerment, and LGBTQ+ joy. On Sunday, Remi Wolf brought her colorful, genre-blending sound to the stage, followed by performances from legendary DJ and fashion icon Honey Dijon and global celebrity Paris Hilton.

Hilton made a dramatic entrance to the festival in the Absolut PRIDE Moke, a brightly decorated electric vehicle that doubled as a statement of style and allyship. She joined the celebration as part of her ongoing collaboration with Absolut, raising an “Absolut Sliving Cosmo” in honor of the LGBTQIA+ community. The partnership builds on Hilton’s performance earlier this year at Coachella, where she debuted her Infinite Icon Remix EP at the Absolut House of Cosmo.

Other notable acts throughout the weekend included Kim Petras, Maren Morris, Frankie Grande, Chrissy Chlapecka, and many many more.

In addition to honoring icons and performers, WeHo Pride placed a strong emphasis on community this year. Local businesses, non-profits, activists, and advocacy groups were all represented in the parade’s floats and marching contingents. Organizers stressed the importance of visibility and unity, especially amid rising political challenges facing LGBTQ+ individuals across the nation.

“Pride is both a celebration and a reminder,” said one local marcher from the Trans Wellness Center in Los Angeles. “We’re here to uplift joy, but also to remind folks that our fight for equality, health care, and safety is ongoing.”

With Pride Month just beginning, West Hollywood’s celebration served as a vibrant launch for a season of activism, art, and joy throughout the region. The city of Los Angeles will continue its observance with the separate LA Pride Festival and Parade, scheduled for June 8. That parade is expected to begin at 11 a.m. at Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

As rainbow flags wave across Southern California and beyond, this weekend’s events reaffirmed West Hollywood’s enduring status as a beacon for LGBTQ+ pride, resistance, and celebration.

Love was quite literally in the air at the WorldPride DC kickoff celebration, where a handful of unsuspecting LGBTQIA+ couples were whisked into an unforgettable moment: surprise wedding ceremonies hosted by none other than drag royalty, Sasha Colby.

    A Pride Month to Remember

The event marked the official kickoff of Them’s Pride Month programming. Editor-in-Chief Fran Tirado took a moment to speak to the crowd, emphasizing the importance of honoring queer stories — not just the struggles, but the celebrations too.

Colby also graced the stage with a performance that had guests out of their seats and living for every beat. It was a perfect blend of performance art and emotional resonance — exactly the kind of energy you want when ushering in a month dedicated to queer joy and resilience.

Earlier in the week, Them launched their Pride coverage with a bold cover reveal featuring The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey. The media outlet promises more big moments throughout the month, including exclusive features, interviews, and fresh cover stories spotlighting the LGBTQIA+ community.

    Marriage, Magic, and Momentum

In a cultural climate where queer rights continue to be debated and defended, events like these do more than dazzle — they affirm. The surprise weddings weren’t just sweet — they were symbolic of how far we’ve come and how powerful visibility can be.

Sasha Colby’s impromptu officiating gig might not have been on anyone’s Pride bingo card, but it turned out to be the heartwarming highlight of the evening. And as the champagne flowed and confetti settled, one thing was clear: Pride in D.C. had officially begun — with love leading the way.

  • Electric Daisy Carnival 2025: A Queer Wonderland of Beats, Unity, and Totems

Electric Daisy Carnival 2025: A Queer Wonderland of Beats, Unity, and Totems

At Electric Daisy Carnival 2025, the energy was electric, the vibes were high, and the queerness was unmistakably fabulous. As the desert lit up with strobing lasers and basslines that shook the ground, EDC reaffirmed its place as not just the biggest electronic music festival in North America—but also one of the most inclusive and welcoming events on the planet.

A Safe Space Under the Electric Sky

More than 500,000 attendees poured into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the weekend, and it wasn’t just the music pulling them in. EDC is built on values that champion love, positivity, and connection. “All Are Welcome Here” banners waved proudly above the crowds, a bold and beautiful reminder that LGBTQ+ ravers weren’t just tolerated—they were celebrated.

Across the neon-drenched stages, drag queens vogued under fireworks, queer DJs dropped euphoric house anthems, and groups of friends hugged strangers-turned-family. The festival felt like a sanctuary in sequins, where you could be whoever you wanted—no questions asked.

“We create unforgettable experiences driven by imagination and positivity,” Insomniac proclaims, and the crowd lived that motto with every beat.

    The Soundtrack to Self-Expression

The sheer size of EDC is staggering. With multiple stages like kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS, neonGARDEN, and bassPOD, each offering its own flavor of EDM—from trance to techno to dubstep—the festival felt like a choose-your-own-adventure story set to a beat.

Whether dancing under the towering owl guardians of kineticFIELD or finding intimacy at the art cars, attendees found pockets of sound and space that fit their vibe. For many queer ravers, the music became a catalyst for catharsis, euphoria, and community.

Totems: The Queer Icons of the Night

Amid the sea of kandi and LED-lit outfits, one festival fixture stood tall—literally. Totems, homemade signs hoisted high on poles, are an essential part of EDC’s culture. Funny, weird, heartfelt, and wildly queer, they help friends find each other and strangers connect over shared laughs.

From a poppers logos to signs readying “Him Homie Was Hotter,” the creativity knew no bounds. Totems often made political statements too—supporting trans rights, calling out anti-drag laws, or just reminding everyone to hydrate.

These ten-foot icons weren’t just silly—they were statements. They embodied the spirit of EDC: free expression, acceptance, and a whole lot of glitter.

    Unity in Every Beat

What makes EDC special isn’t just its size or production value. It’s the atmosphere of radical inclusion. For many in the LGBTQ+ community, this is the one weekend a year where they can be completely free—dancing in daylight or under the stars without fear or judgment.

From strangers offering hugs to spontaneous voguing circles, every interaction is steeped in the values EDC stands by: positivity, love, care, and connection.

So yes, the music is great. The stages are dazzling. But for queer ravers, the true headliner is community—and at EDC, that always steals the show.

  • Salvage City at EDC Las Vegas Is a Post-Apocalyptic Fever Dream of Food, Fire, and Fine Wine

Salvage City at EDC Las Vegas Is a Post-Apocalyptic Fever Dream of Food, Fire, and Fine Wine

At the heart of EDC Las Vegas’ sprawling desert playground lies something unexpected, delicious, and delightfully dystopian: Salvage City, an underground-style supper club that turns fine dining into a post-apocalyptic performance art. Equal parts culinary experience and immersive show, Salvage City invites guests to feast like royalty in a world that looks like it’s already ended.

    And somehow, it’s fabulous.

Beyond the Barricades: What Salvage City Actually Is

Forget your usual VIP lounges and luxury lounges—Salvage City offers a one-of-a-kind, 60-minute experience that blends immersive storytelling with a five-course gourmet meal and free-flowing cocktails and wines. Set in the rugged landscape of Nomads Land, this dining journey transports festivalgoers into a rustic, theatrical oasis where elegance and anarchy co-exist.

It’s not just a meal. It’s a narrative. A dreamlike, dusty fever dream.

    Five Courses of Flavorful Fantasy

Whether you’re plant-based or carnivorous, Salvage City’s culinary offerings deliver. Guests are treated to an exclusive five-course tasting menu crafted by world-renowned chefs. Previous menus have leaned into themes of survival and indulgence—earthy textures, smoky flavor profiles, and dishes that look like they’ve been unearthed from a post-civilization banquet.

Expect mushroom tartlets that melt on your tongue, ember-grilled proteins with dramatic flair, and decadent desserts plated in salvaged-style dishware. While the 2025 menu remains under wraps, we’re told it will continue to elevate the contrast between luxury and decay.

Every dish is a story. Every bite, a plot twist.

Raise a Glass to the End of the World

The cocktails? Free-flowing and fabulous. Smoky mezcals, deep reds, and botanical mixes are served with flair—sometimes by acrobats dangling overhead. Each libation is tailored to enhance the ambiance and culinary journey, with garnishes that feel foraged from another world.

You’ll never see your glass bottom—or the next surprise coming.

    Performance Meets Plate

The immersive show element elevates the entire experience. Guests dine among contortionists, dancers, fire breathers, and aerialists, all clad in distressed couture that belongs on both a runway and a war rig. This isn’t theater you sit and watch—this is theater that walks past your table, makes direct eye contact, and maybe even shares a toast.

The show has a wondrous underlying flare of queer love and self expression, ebbing and flowing around you as if the entire world of Salvage City is alive—burned down, reborn, and ready to party.

    Come Hungry. Leave Hypnotized.

More than a meal and more than a show, Salvage City is an invitation to let go of reality and lean into a world where chaos becomes comfort, and fine dining survives the fallout. Whether you’re a foodie, a festival freak, or just a sucker for spectacle, this is one reservation you won’t want to miss.

A Groundbreaking B2B Set from Icons of Inclusivity

Both LP Giobbi and Sofi are known not only for their genre-blending sound and high-octane live performances but also for their fierce commitment to inclusivity, queer empowerment, and representation in music.

Sofi, who forms one half of the globally recognized electronic act Sofi Tukker, has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages and amassed a massive global following with hits like “Drinkee,” “Purple Hat,” and “Best Friend.” With an unmistakable presence and unapologetically queer perspective, Sofi has become a symbol of freedom and visibility within the dance music community.

LP Giobbi, widely celebrated as “the piano house queen,” brings her own distinct energy to the decks. As a DJ, producer, and the founder of Femme House—a nonprofit working to create equitable opportunities for women and LGBTQ+ artists in music—Giobbi has been a trailblazer both on and off the stage. Her mission to diversify the dance floor and studio has earned her accolades across the industry.

Whether they’re reimagining hits from Britney Spears and Nelly Furtado, or turning viral moments into club anthems, ALTÉGO bring an infectious, dancefloor-ready vibe that’s sure to have The Wharf pulsing with energy.

More Than Music—A Celebration of Queer Joy

Pier Dance at The Wharf also features celebrated local and national DJs Matt Suave and Ryan McClure, known for curating inclusive dance experiences that are equal parts euphoric and emotional.
