Cottonelle reaches out to bottoms everywhere with a new advert.
Meeting your partner’s parents for the first time can be nerve-wracking. Luckily, Cottonelle feels your pain and wants to help you with your “down there care”. The toilet paper company produced an adorable 15-second spot featuring a male couple.
Cottonelle follows major brands like Apple, Campbell’s Soup, Colgate, Starbucks, Kodak and Coca Cola, all of which have created advertisements aimed at the LGBTQ community.
The video, which debuted earlier this month, infuriated some of the brand’s customers. Some homophobic former-buyers took to Twitter to express their discontent and to threaten to boycott. But, Cottonelle never backed down.
An angry consumer tweeted, “… Cottonelle has a commercial with two guys in it, talking about cleaning ‘down there’. Make[s] me sick. Nasty. Cottonelle … [I] just became an un-customer.”
Recorded a movie. Watching.

The brand promptly replied, “Being clean impacts everyone, and it’s an important step to feeling your best. Here at Cottonelle Brand, diversity is embraced in all aspects, and we are proud to share a commercial that is representative of that. Thank you for reaching out.”
