Did Harry Styles Just Come Out as Bisexual?

Harry Styles, 24, surprised fans with two brand-new tunes, and their lyrics led Twitter to question his sexuality.

On Tuesday night, as part of his European solo tour, the former One Direction singer delivered a fabulous performance in Paris at the AccorHotels Arena. At the concert, Styles dropped two unreleased tracks “Anna” and “Medicine,” the latter of which many are calling his bisexual anthem.

In a fan-recorded video, Styles belts out, “The boys and the girls are here I mess around with them / And I’m okay with it / I’m coming down / I figured out I kinda like it / And when I sleep I’m gonna dream of how you tasted.”

Though he hasn’t verified the inspiration behind the song “Medicine,” many of his fans believe he’s coming out as bisexual. Still, it may be just a simple case of wishful thinking. In a 2013 interview with British GQ, Styles rejected rumors that he was bisexual. “Bisexual? Me? I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure I’m not,” he said.

In that same interview, Styles called the debate over his sexuality annoying and ridiculous.

“I don’t want to be one of those people that complain about the rumors,” he told the magazine. “I never like it when a celebrity goes on Twitter and says, ‘This isn’t true!’ It is what it is; I tend not to do that. The only time it gets really annoying is that if you get into a relationship and you get into a place where you really like someone and then things are being written in the papers that affect them and how they see you. Then it can get annoying.”

Styles — who dated Taylor Swift in 2012 and Kendall Jenner in 2015 — discussed his sexuality in May 2017. He told The Sun he “never felt the need” to clarify his sexual orientation.

“I don’t feel like it’s something I’ve ever felt like I have to explain about myself,” he told the publication. “Everyone should just be whom they want to be. It’s tough to justify somebody having to answer to someone else about stuff like that.”

In September of that year, Styles waved an impressive Pride flag during his first solo tour show in San Francisco, California.

Paris, October.
