Watching new movies looks a little different right now, but the Outfest Fusion Festival is here to remind you that you can still enjoy today’s leading short films and features from the comfort of your home. Today’s leading storytellers bring the voices of queer, trans, Black, Indigenous, and people of color to the forefront in this celebration of creative expression.
The five-day Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival kicks off on April 16. It offers an entirely virtual experience complete with screenings of the films, filmmaking workshops, and live performances. Guests can also choose to venture out of the house for a night under the stars at one of the two drive-in viewing experiences hosted at Los Angeles’s Exposition Park.
Guests can enjoy 10 feature films, 41 short films, and access to nearly a dozen workshops, panels, and live events with the purchase of an all-access bundle ticket. Individual movies can be streamed for $10 each.

The first drive-in event will take place on April 17. It will include an awards presentation of the Outfest Fusion Awards to Michaela Coel and Andra Day and complimentary food and cocktails while supplies last. Sip under the stars and watch the six shorts all around a central theme of taking action and control over your life.
“To speak up, speak out, or move on. This is the central challenge faced by each of the characters in this powerful collection of shorts,” a description of the event reads. “The voices you’ll meet range from timid to assertive to absolutely commanding, and once you share these six unforgettable journeys from across a diverse range of queer and trans experience, their voices will linger in your mind well into the future.”
Night two will roll out an entirely new set of films and another awards ceremony for the Outfest Fusion One Minute Movie Contest. These films focus on protagonists venturing out into the world.
“From historic trailblazers to everyday people, the protagonist of these six indelible stories each find the courage to take a step into the unknown, sparking the possibility for monumental changes in their lives. Whether it’s an unlikely real-life run for president, or a possible portal into another world, the tales they have to tell are unlike anything you’ve heard before.”
To attend the drive-in, guests will need to purchase tickets online for vehicle entry and individual passenger entry.
Come celebrate films from various cultures, identities, and genres and learn the top tips and tricks of filmmaking from experts within the community.
