  • Penn Badgley Breaks Down the End of ‘You’: “It’s As Close to a Perfect Ending As It Could Be”

Penn Badgley Breaks Down the End of ‘You’: “It’s As Close to a Perfect Ending As It Could Be”

After five seasons of obsession, murder, and internal monologues, Netflix’s You has finally come to an end—and no one’s more ready to talk about it than Joe Goldberg himself, Penn Badgley.

    SEASON FINALE SPOILERS AHEAD

In an exclusive interview with Caitlynn McDaniel, Badgley reflected on the long, twisted journey of playing one of TV’s most charming (and horrifying) antiheroes. And when it came to the finale’s self-aware twist—where Joe is finally seen not as a misunderstood romantic but as an abuser—Badgley didn’t hold back.

“To me, I think it is as close to a perfect ending as it could be,” he said. “You think of any show ever, it’s hard to land the ending. I think this one, there was a demand to end it better than most because it’s been a specific kind of journey. Joe’s not every protagonist. He’s so awful in a lot of ways.”

Season 5 finds Joe back in New York City, with a new identity and a new partner: his London-born wife Kate (Charlotte Ritchie). But true to form, the cycle begins again when Joe becomes infatuated with Bronte (Madeline Brewer), a passionate young writer who soon becomes the next “You.”

The final episode leans heavily into the meta—calling out viewers who romanticized Joe despite his crimes and exposing the very real dangers of misconstrued love.

“For the first time, we are seeing [his behavior] as abuse and truly predatory… not seduction,” Badgley explained. “You don’t want them to be together. And that’s the point.”

While Joe’s crimes—stalking, murder, and a deeply unhealthy relationship with glass boxes—have always been front and center, Badgley believes the show’s true subject is even darker and more universal.

“What this show is about is actually more about the relatable aspects of misconceptions of love that we all engage in—possession, jealousy… the way that desire can influence love and change it,” he said. “Joe is a construct… he’s not really a serial killer. Yeah, he’s a serial killer, but he’s not really.”

That layered nuance, Badgley explained, is what made Joe both terrifying and familiar. “We have to control ourselves in ways that are important to be a fully reciprocating, consensual, engaged partner. And I don’t just mean physically—I mean in all the ways.”

The final moments also shine a light at the audience’s complicated relationship with Joe, who some fans have romanticized over the years. In the end, we see Joe reading a letter from a fangirl who wants to be his next victim. “Maybe the problem isn’t me,” Joe muses. “Maybe… it’s you.”

But even with all of Joe’s reflection and delusion, could anything have changed him? Not even fatherhood, Badgley said—especially not if Joe had been raising a daughter.

“I’ve always thought that it shouldn’t take having a daughter for a man to be like, ‘Oh, I see women differently,’” he said. “For us to see women as people, it shouldn’t take that… I think the ugly truth is that he would be a horrific father to a girl. It’s like, no.”

As for whether we’ll ever see Joe again? Badgley seems ready to close that book for good. “End the show now,” he laughed. “No, I don’t want to see that hypothetical world.”

The fifth and final season of You is streaming now on Netflix.

  • Onya Nurve Crowned Winner of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 17 and Eyes EGOT Next

Onya Nurve Crowned Winner of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 17 and Eyes EGOT Next

It do take Nurve — and Onya Nurve has more than proven it. After a powerhouse run on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 17, Onya took home the crown and the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar on April 18, delivering a grand finale performance that had fans and judges alike on their feet.

Already a fan favorite before the final episode aired, Onya made history by racking up more than 700,000 likes on her #TeamOnya social media post, the most ever for a finalist. Her season-long display of charisma, talent, and fierce dedication to celebrating Black culture earned her four maxi-challenge wins — including the iconic Snatch Game — and the love of a global audience.

But when it came down to the final lip-sync battle, it was Onya’s performance of “Abracadabra” by Lady Gaga that sealed her fate. Clad in a commanding red ensemble, she chose not to rely on any dramatic costume reveals, opting instead to let her talent and stage presence do all the talking.

“I’ve never been a goop-and-gag kind of queen,” Onya said in an interview with GAY TIMES. “I am the goop and gag. I knew I just had to go out there, trust in myself, and leave it all on the stage.”

Since her crowning moment, Onya has been caught in a whirlwind of appearances, including a stop by Good Morning America — all on virtually no sleep.

“I haven’t even had time to eat!” she joked. “Everything’s been happening so fast, but I’m beyond grateful. Over the moon, honestly.”

Support from her family has played a central role in her journey. Her mother, Nina, stood by her side during the finale, while her father made an emotional appearance earlier in the season during the makeover challenge. “They just stopped crying yesterday,” Onya said with a laugh. “They’re so proud, and that means everything.”

The theater-loving queen brought that same passion and energy to the Drag Race stage all season long. Whether impersonating Eddie Murphy during Snatch Game or hosting the Drag Race Live! challenge, Onya’s background in performance arts clearly shined through.

“The hosting challenge was the one I was most proud of,” she said. “I host a lot outside of Drag Race, so it felt like home for me. That, and Snatch Game — taking on someone as legendary as Eddie Murphy wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.”

Onya’s presence on the show was more than just entertaining — it was meaningful. She consistently celebrated Black culture and identity, both in her looks and her storytelling. That authenticity resonated deeply with viewers who saw themselves represented in her.

“There are so many entertainers who look like me and feel like they have to work twice as hard to get half as far,” she said. “I just want to be living proof that if you work hard and stay true to yourself, you can do it — you can be a Drag Race superstar.”

Looking ahead, Onya isn’t just stopping at Drag Race fame. Her next goal? EGOT status — an elite group of artists who’ve won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.

“I want the full set,” she said. “I’ve always dreamed of Broadway, and now that I’ve got this momentum, I’m going for it. I also told my mom I want to buy a house. Big dreams, baby!”

In addition to Broadway, Onya is already setting her sights on Hollywood. Her dream project? Starring alongside powerhouse actors like Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Kerry Washington, and Lupita Nyong’o.

“That’s not even a dream — it’s a plan,” she said. “It’s going to happen.”

And yes, fans, she’s manifesting a future guest role on Abbott Elementary, too. “Oh, that’s happening,” she declared. “Already set in stone in my mind.”

While many queens aim to build beauty brands or launch music careers post-Drag Race, Onya’s ambitions feel even more expansive. She hopes her legacy is one that future generations of drag performers, especially Black queens, can look to for inspiration.

“I hope people see that drag isn’t just what we put on — it’s who we are,” she said. “The heart, the spirit, the love we bring to that stage. That’s what really matters.”

As her star continues to rise, Onya Nurve isn’t just basking in the glow of victory — she’s charging full speed toward an empire of her own making.

For now, though, she’s just soaking it all in. “It hasn’t fully hit me yet,” she admitted. “But one thing’s for sure — it took Nurve to get here, and I’ve still got plenty more to give.”

  • Jerrod Carmichael Returns to HBO With Bold New Comedy Special ‘Don’t Be Gay’

Jerrod Carmichael Returns to HBO With Bold New Comedy Special ‘Don’t Be Gay’

Comedian and Emmy-winning writer Jerrod Carmichael is bringing his signature honesty and wit back to HBO with a brand-new stand-up special, Don’t Be Gay, premiering Saturday, May 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The special will also be available to stream on Max.

Following the critical success of his groundbreaking 2022 special Rothaniel, in which Carmichael came out as gay, Don’t Be Gay promises to continue his deeply personal and unfiltered comedic exploration of identity, vulnerability, and truth — all delivered with his trademark dry humor and charm.

Building on a Legacy of Raw Honesty

Not much has been revealed about the content of the upcoming special, but HBO is already calling it a powerful continuation of Carmichael’s evolving storytelling. Nina Rosenstein, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Late Night and Specials, praised the special in a statement, saying Don’t Be Gay “continues to build” on the “raw,” “intimate,” and “emotionally honest” tone of Rothaniel and Carmichael’s recent unscripted series, The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show.

In Rothaniel, Carmichael spoke candidly about his struggle to embrace his sexuality, revealing to the audience, “I thought I’d never, ever come out. At many points I thought I’d rather die than confront the truth of that, to actually say it to people.”

The powerful special struck a chord with audiences and critics alike, earning Carmichael an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. “I made something that was of great personal consequence to me,” he said in his acceptance speech, adding, “this definitely contributes to the meaning of it.”

    A Continuation of Candid Conversations

Carmichael didn’t stop at stand-up. He followed up with The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, a comedy docuseries that offered even more intimate (and often awkward) moments from his real life. One headline-making episode featured a surprising conversation with rapper Tyler, the Creator, during which Carmichael confessed a crush.

“Getting news like that and then avoiding it is a way to avoid change,” Tyler said in the moment. “That was a lot to download… and I still don’t know how to respond.”

Fans and critics alike are eager to see how Carmichael continues to push boundaries with his fourth HBO special. With a title as provocatively tongue-in-cheek as Don’t Be Gay, expectations are high for another vulnerable, funny, and unflinchingly honest hour of comedy.

Don’t Be Gay premieres Saturday, May 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available for streaming on Max.

  • Hunter Doohan Heats Up the Internet in New Trailer for ‘Wednesday’ Season 2

Hunter Doohan Heats Up the Internet in New Trailer for ‘Wednesday’ Season 2

Netflix released the first trailer for the highly anticipated second season of its hit supernatural series Wednesday on Wednesday, April 23 — and it has already stirred up buzz across the internet, thanks in no small part to the return of fan-favorite Hunter Doohan.

Doohan, who portrays the duplicitous Tyler Galpin — a seemingly ordinary “normie” turned monstrous Hyde — makes a striking appearance in the final moments of the trailer. The brief but impactful glimpse of the character has ignited social media conversations and reignited fan interest in the complex dynamic between Tyler and Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams.

The latest teaser hints at a darker, more intense storyline for Season 2, a shift star Jenna Ortega previously teased. However, it’s Doohan’s transformation — both in terms of plot and physical presence — that has fans particularly enthralled.

Shirtless and Sinister: First Look at Tyler’s Return

Among the newly released promotional images, one stood out: a shirtless Doohan, restrained by a thick collar, giving fans a provocative look at the duality of his character. The image, which has already gone viral, shows a raw and tortured Tyler that contrasts sharply with his more buttoned-up appearance in earlier episodes.

“Hunter Doohan, the man you are,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the sentiment shared across platforms. On Instagram, a user quipped, “Will you ever find your shirt? The real plot of season two,” while another simply declared, “He’s back and steamier than ever.”

Even on YouTube, where fans often take a more subdued approach, the comments were lit with admiration. “I think he was working out for the part in Daredevil: Born Again,” one user speculated, referencing Doohan’s upcoming role as the villainous Muse in the Disney+ series.

    A Glimpse Inside the Asylum

The trailer also reveals a pivotal scene between Wednesday and Tyler, set in the psychiatric facility where he has been detained since the climax of Season 1. The scene, which depicts a tense reunion, offers a taste of the psychological drama expected to unfold in the new episodes.

The relationship between Wednesday and Tyler was central to the first season’s arc. While fans initially rooted for a romantic development between the two, the revelation of Tyler’s dark alter ego threw their dynamic into turmoil. Now, with Season 2 promising a deeper dive into horror and psychological tension, fans are unsure if reconciliation — or further betrayal — is on the horizon.

Ortega, who returns in the titular role, confirmed that the upcoming season would lean more heavily into gothic horror. “We’re going to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more,” she said during a promotional appearance last year. “It’s going to get darker, more intense — definitely not a love story.”

    Season 2 Release Details

Netflix also confirmed the release schedule for Wednesday Season 2, which will be split into two parts. The first part will premiere on August 6, while the second will follow on September 3. This staggered release approach is new for the series and is designed to sustain momentum throughout the late summer.

Season 1, which debuted in November 2022, became a cultural phenomenon, introducing a new generation to the eerie world of the Addams Family while reimagining Wednesday Addams as a sharp, sardonic teen navigating a high school for supernatural outcasts.

The series, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed in part by Tim Burton, was lauded for its fresh tone, compelling visuals, and Ortega’s magnetic performance. The introduction of Doohan’s character added a layer of mystery and emotional complexity that contributed significantly to the show’s success.

    Fan Reactions and Anticipation

Reactions to the trailer and first-look images have ranged from enthusiastic to downright frenzied. “I’m only here for more Hyde screentime,” one fan posted on Reddit. “They better not waste Hunter Doohan’s potential again.”

The buzz around Doohan is also helping fuel interest in his other upcoming projects. Aside from Daredevil: Born Again, where he is slated to play a significant antagonist, Doohan has been fielding a wave of new opportunities thanks to the breakout success of Wednesday.

As for the rest of the cast, returning favorites include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, and Emma Myers as Wednesday’s quirky werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair. New cast members are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

    Streaming Now

Season 1 of Wednesday is currently available to stream on Netflix. With Season 2 just a few months away, fans are encouraged to rewatch the first season to revisit the intricate web of relationships and unravel the threads that will likely tie into the upcoming episodes.

Whether you’re drawn to the twisted romance, the unsettling suspense, or simply here for shirtless Hyde, one thing is certain: Wednesday Season 2 is shaping up to be a wild, wicked ride.

Bella Ramsey Becomes First Non-Binary Actor Honored with Madame Tussauds London Wax Figure

Bella Ramsey, the acclaimed star of The Last of Us, has made history by becoming the first non-binary actor to be honored with a wax figure at Madame Tussauds London. Set to be unveiled later this year, Ramsey’s figure will join the museum’s prestigious “Awards Party” zone, standing alongside icons such as Harry Styles, Zendaya, Lil Nas X, and Lady Gaga.

The announcement, made on April 23, 2025, marks a significant milestone in both Ramsey’s career and in the representation of non-binary individuals in the entertainment industry. While G-Flip was the first non-binary celebrity to receive a Madame Tussauds wax figure, their likeness was displayed at the Sydney location. Ramsey’s figure will be the first of its kind in London, underscoring the global recognition of non-binary talent.

    A Collaborative Effort

Ramsey, who uses they/them pronouns, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the artists at Madame Tussauds London. “It’s an honour to work with Madame Tussauds London’s world-class artists on my figure,” they said. “I am in awe at the level of detail that the artists put into their work, and it has been such a fun experience to be included in their creative process. I can’t wait to see the finished look and to share it with fans.”

Steve Blackburn, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, praised Ramsey as “a film, TV, and style icon” and noted that they “shine as brightly on screen as they do in person, never compromising who they are or what they stand for.” The wax figure will feature an outfit inspired by Ramsey’s standout look from the The Last of Us Los Angeles premiere, chosen by Ramsey and donated by a Japanese streetwear label.

Beyond their acting achievements, Ramsey has been an advocate for greater inclusivity in the entertainment industry. They have spoken out about the challenges posed by gendered award categories and have called for the creation of non-binary awards categories to ensure fair recognition of non-binary and gender non-conforming actors.

JoJo Siwa No Longer Identifies as A Lesbian After Celebrity Big Brother House Made Her Realize She’s Queer

JoJo Siwa has publicly updated her sexual identity during her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, revealing that she now identifies as queer rather than lesbian. The 20-year-old former Dance Moms star, who came out as pansexual in 2021, shared her feelings in a candid conversation with fellow contestant Danny Beard, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

“I feel so queer,” Siwa said, explaining that her time on the reality show had prompted her to reassess her identity. “I’ve always told myself, I’m a lesbian, but being here I’ve realized I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer,” she added. “I think that’s really cool, I’m switching letters. I’ve dropped the L and I’ve gone to the Q, baby! That’s what I love about sexuality.”

Beard, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns out of drag, responded with humor, saying, “And you know what British people love more than anything? To queue!”

Siwa’s appearance on Celebrity Big Brother has been marked by both personal revelations and public challenges. Earlier in the season, she faced offensive remarks from fellow contestant Mickey Rourke, leading to his removal from the house. More recently, Siwa has been seen spending time with Love Island star Chris Hughes, sparking speculation about a potential romance and leading to online harassment directed at her current partner, non-binary actor Kath Ebbs.

In addition to discussing her sexual identity, Siwa has opened up about her gender identity. In a recent diary room conversation with Hughes, she expressed feelings of not fully aligning with traditional gender categories. “Essentially you have female, you have male. I’ve met a lot of females, love them, don’t feel like I’m them. Met a lot of males, love them, don’t feel like I’m them. Definitely not them,” Siwa said. “Met a lot of people in my life [who] are non-binary, and these beautiful people are who I feel the most like and it’s not something that I want to say about myself yet but it’s something that is confusing.”

Celebrity Big Brother, hosted by Will Best and AJ Odudu, airs weekdays at 9 p.m. on ITV1 in the UK. The season finale is scheduled for Friday, April 25, and episodes are available to stream on ITVX.

Storms, Scandals & Slow-Burns: ‘Pulse’ Stars Say the New Medical Drama Is “Like Nothing We’ve Seen on TV”

Netflix’s Pulse doesn’t waste time. Within minutes, a hurricane barrels into Miami, the hospital goes into lockdown, and two doctors with a tangled past are forced into the same ER under extreme pressure.

But before the storm hits, the real turbulence begins with a sexual harassment complaint: third-year resident Dr. Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald) files it against her boss, Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell). As the hospital staff grapples with a growing list of trauma cases, rumors swirl, and Danny is unexpectedly promoted to chief resident—adding fuel to the fire both professionally and personally.

“What made this feel so distinct is the central story between these two characters and the specific investigation into the gray area that those characters have experienced,” Fitzgerald said. “It’s something I had not seen on television. Definitely not in a medical drama.”

“The added element of the hurricane too is always fun,” Woodell added. “This idea of all these people trapped in this hospital—saving lives, but also two of us having to work together professionally while carrying the baggage of what’s happened between us—it’s a lot of tension.”

To keep track of the dual timelines, Woodell said, “I kind of was trying to create a timeline for myself of the 12 months leading into present day. It was challenging to get it all out there chronologically.” He also joked, “My hair,” when asked how he kept track of what version of Xander he was playing.

Fitzgerald found a rhythm in the structure. “You get to grow the characters up at two different times in their life at the same time,” she explained. “Also because a lot of the flashbacks are outside of the hospital, it kind of took care of itself.”

She also appreciated the complexity of her role: “She’s a human who is therefore imperfect, who is making imperfect choices with the best information available to her, and then reevaluating those choices when more information becomes available.”

While the central relationship keeps the tension high, the series also delivers one of the most grounded and hopefully queer slow-burns on TV right now: Sophie and Camila. It’s a relationship that sneaks up on you in the best way—starting as friendship and blossoming into something deeper.

And you can’t talk Pulse without talking about one of the most memorable dynamics to come out of the first season of the show: Camila and Sophie.

“Yeah, we do,” Fitzgerald said immediately.

“It is so good,” Fitzgerald said. “So many good dynamics. It’s hard to pick.”

    Honorable mentions:

    • Jack and Ash (AKA Nia and Cole)
    • Cole and Soriano
    • Elijah and Danny

From steamy stares in the OR to slow-burning romance in the hospital halls, Pulse brings the drama—but it’s the duos that keep us watching.

Pulse is now streaming on Netflix—just try not to binge it all in one sitting. Or do. We won’t judge.

  • Robert Irwin Joins ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 34 Shirtless, Snake-Wrapped, and Ready to Slay

Robert Irwin Joins ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 34 Shirtless, Snake-Wrapped, and Ready to Slay

Dancing With the Stars is already heating up ahead of its 34th season, and it’s all thanks to its first official cast reveal: Robert Irwin, Australian wildlife warrior and certified heartthrob, is headed to the ballroom.

The 21-year-old son of the late Steve Irwin — famously known as the “Crocodile Hunter” — made quite the entrance at Hulu’s Get Real House event on Tuesday, April 22. In true showman style, Irwin appeared shirtless, draped in a live snake, and gave a cheeky nod to two iconic pop culture moments: Britney Spears’ legendary 2001 MTV VMA performance and the cult-favorite 1994 Australian queer film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Yes, the snake’s name was Priscilla. Yes, Robert Irwin is here to serve looks, nostalgia, and some serious moves.

DWTS co-hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, along with judge Derek Hough, introduced Irwin as the season’s first contestant, much to the crowd’s delight. The announcement quickly spread across social media, thanks to a flurry of Instagram Stories capturing Irwin’s bold entrance and backstage moments.

Julianne Hough even got in on the slithery fun, wrapping Priscilla the snake around her neck and channeling full Britney Spears fantasy as Irwin stood by, supervising like a true wildlife pro.

The moment wasn’t just pure camp — it was a love letter to Irwin’s roots and queer Aussie cinema, with the DWTS crew clearly in on the fun. For fans, it was an announcement that delivered on drama, humor, and undeniable charisma.

And of course, this isn’t the first time the Irwin family has graced the DWTS stage.

Robert’s sister, Bindi Irwin, competed in Season 21 back in 2015 and stole the hearts of viewers worldwide. Paired with none other than Derek Hough, Bindi went on to win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy, making her one of the most beloved champions in DWTS history.

“10 years in the making,” Derek Hough wrote in an Instagram Story featuring throwback clips of him and Bindi dancing their way to the top.

Robert’s arrival now feels like a full-circle moment for the Irwin family — and for fans who followed Bindi’s emotional journey a decade ago.

More recently, Robert Irwin has been turning heads with steamy modeling campaigns and a growing presence in the fashion world. But it looks like he’s trading in the billboards and bushland for ballroom glitz and glitter.

And if his debut appearance is any indication, Irwin is bringing the charm, the cheekbones, and a whole lot of Aussie flair to the dance floor.

Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars will premiere soon across Disney+, Hulu, and ABC. With Irwin already making waves as the first confirmed contestant, fans can expect a wild — and wildly entertaining — season ahead.

Netflix Unveils Teaser, Images for ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 with Split Premiere Dates Announced

Netflix has offered a first glimpse into the highly anticipated second season of “Wednesday,” the hit series starring Jenna Ortega as the titular sardonic daughter of the Addams Family. The streaming giant released an initial teaser trailer and several new images, announcing that the season will be presented in two parts, premiering on August 6 and September 3.

According to the official series logline provided by Netflix, “Wednesday” follows the character’s formative years as a student. During this time, Wednesday Addams grapples with mastering her burgeoning psychic abilities, endeavors to thwart a mysterious killing spree that terrorizes her community, and sets out to unravel a long-standing mystery that directly implicated her parents.

Jenna Ortega, who has garnered significant acclaim for her portrayal of the deadpan protagonist, returns for the second season and takes on an additional role as a producer. She is joined by a familiar cast, including Emma Myers as Wednesday’s vibrant werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as the popular siren Bianca Barclay, Moosa Mostafa as the technology-savvy Eugene, Georgie Farmer as the gorgon Ajax, and Victor Dorobantu as the loyal, disembodied hand, Thing.

The iconic Addams family members will also be returning, with Catherine Zeta-Jones reprising her role as the elegant matriarch Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as the enthusiastic patriarch Gomez Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Wednesday’s mischievous younger brother Pugsley Addams. Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo and Jamie McShane are also set to return as Deputy Ritchie Santiago and Sheriff Donovan Galpin, respectively, along with Fred Armisen as the eccentric Uncle Fester.

Season two will also introduce a slate of new series regulars, adding fresh dynamics to the supernatural boarding school Nevermore Academy and its surrounding town. These new additions include acclaimed actor Steve Buscemi (“The Big Lebowski”), Billie Piper (“Scoop”), Evie Templeton (“Return to Silent Hill”), Owen Painter (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), and Noah Taylor (“Park Avenue”).

Adding to the excitement, a roster of notable actors will join the season in guest star roles. These include Christopher Lloyd (“The Addams Family” film franchise), Joanna Lumley (“Absolutely Fabulous”), Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”), Frances O’Connor (“The Twelve”), Haley Joel Osment (“Somebody I Used to Know”), Heather Matarazzo (“The Princess Diaries”), and Joonas Suotamo (“The Acolyte”). Notably, global music superstar Lady Gaga is also slated to make an appearance in a currently undisclosed mystery role, further fueling fan speculation and anticipation.

Behind the camera, the creative team from the first season is largely returning. Tim Burton, who directed several episodes in the inaugural season and established the show’s distinct visual style, is back in the director’s chair alongside Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson. The co-creators of “Wednesday,” Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, will continue to serve as showrunners and executive producers. They are joined by a robust team of executive producers, including Burton, Ortega, Natalie Testa, Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Tommy Harper, Karen Richards, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, and Meredith Averill. The series is produced by MGM Television.

The newly released teaser trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the eerie and darkly comedic world of “Wednesday” Season 2, hinting at new mysteries, supernatural threats, and the continued evolution of Wednesday’s unique personality and relationships. The accompanying first-look images provide further glimpses of returning and new characters, setting the tone for the upcoming chapters of the series.

The decision to release the second season in two parts is a notable departure from the first season’s format and suggests a potentially intricate and expansive storyline that Netflix aims to unfold in stages. The August and September premiere dates will likely keep fans engaged throughout the late summer months.

The success of the first season of “Wednesday” was significant for Netflix, drawing a large global audience and becoming a cultural phenomenon, particularly among younger viewers. The series’ blend of supernatural mystery, dark humor, and coming-of-age themes, coupled with Ortega’s compelling performance, resonated strongly. The return of familiar faces and the addition of high-profile new cast members, both in regular and guest roles, indicate Netflix’s continued investment in the series and its potential for further growth.

The involvement of Tim Burton, known for his distinctive gothic aesthetic, remains a key element of the show’s visual appeal and atmosphere. His directorial contributions in the first season helped establish the unique tone that blends macabre elements with a contemporary sensibility.

As anticipation builds for the August premiere of “Wednesday” Season 2 Part 1, fans are eager to see how Wednesday’s journey unfolds, what new mysteries she will encounter, and how the expanded cast of characters will contribute to the eerie and captivating world of Nevermore Academy. The split release strategy ensures that the “Wednesday” phenomenon is set to continue captivating audiences well into the fall.
