Mike White Responds to Criticism Over ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Pacing: ‘Don’t Be a Bossy Bottom’

Mike White, creator, writer, and director of The White Lotus, has responded to critics of the show’s season 3 pacing, addressing backlash from fans who complained about the season’s slower tempo. Although The White Lotus continues to be a fan favorite and a critical success, some viewers have voiced their frustration over what they deem “horrible pacing” and “too slow” storytelling in the third season.

    White Defends His Vision

On the official podcast for The White Lotus, White acknowledged the criticism, explaining that the pacing and tone of the series could “get under their skin.” He responded directly to fans who felt the season lacked plot, saying, “There was complaining about how there’s no plot. That part I find weird. It never did… part of me is just like, bro, this is the vibe. I’m world-building.”

White’s unapologetic stance comes with a bold analogy to how he feels about his viewers. “If you don’t want to go to bed with me, then get out of my bed,” he said. “I’m edging you! Enjoy the edging. If you don’t want to be edged, then get out of my bed. Don’t be a bossy bottom. Get the fuck out of my bed. Don’t come home with me. Don’t get naked in my bed. Get the fuck out of my bed. Obviously, something is going to happen.”

Season 3 Finale Wraps Up Major Plotlines

The season 3 finale, which aired on April 6, wrapped up several key storylines, including Rick’s revenge mission, the Ratliff family’s financial crisis, and the “white lady trio’s” decades-long friendship. The season also provided a resolution to the controversial incest storyline involving Saxon and Lochlan (played by Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola), two brothers with a tumultuous and shocking bond.

The finale, which ran for 87 minutes, was met with mixed reactions but marked an emotional end to many of the season’s plot threads. However, the finale did not answer all questions, leaving room for speculation and more storytelling in the future.

The Future of The White Lotus

White has already confirmed that The White Lotus will return for a fourth season, though he has teased some significant changes for the next installment. After three seasons set in locations like Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, White is looking to shift away from the oceanic settings that defined the show’s aesthetic.

“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular,” White shared. “But there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”

While exact details about the cast and location of season 4 remain under wraps, HBO’s drama chief, Francesca Orsi, recently shared that location scouting is underway. “We’re going on some location scouting in the next couple of weeks,” Orsi said. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe.”

All three seasons of The White Lotus are available for streaming on Max.

Jenna Ortega Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Her Grandfather, a Drag Performer Lost to AIDS

Jenna Ortega is reflecting on the life of her late grandfather, a drag performer who passed away from AIDS-related complications. In an interview for The Cut’s April/May issue, the Wednesday star shared her admiration for his legacy and the lasting impact he had on her family.

Her grandfather, who came out later in life, performed in drag at a club called Daddy Warbucks in Palm Springs. He used the competition prizes from his performances to help support his family. Although Ortega was born after his passing, she feels a strong connection to him. “I kind of have the same instincts that he does,” she said. “He was very expressive and loved to entertain, so I feel like I have a bit of you in me.”

In 2017, Ortega reflected on her grandfather’s life in a message posted alongside her cover of Art and Understanding, a magazine focused on the AIDS epidemic. She shared, “My mom has always told us how amazing you were. I’m sad we never got to meet. You were very expressive, and loved to entertain, so I feel like I have a bit of you in me.”

Ortega’s recognition of her grandfather’s life is also tied to her own advocacy. In 2018, at just 16, she was named Youth Ambassador for the Latino Commission on AIDS. This role underscored her commitment to supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS.

Beyond her off-screen work, Ortega’s filmography also reflects a deep connection to queer storytelling. She starred alongside Maddie Ziegler in The Fallout, a queer-inclusive drama praised for its raw, emotional take on grief, identity, and mental health. She’s also appeared in Scream and You, both known for their inclusive LGBTQ+ representation.

When previously asked why Wednesday Addams is a queer icon, the actress said, “she’s somebody who embraces her differences and isn’t out to please anybody. That’s a really really powerful thing to see and people want to see powerful women with powerful women.”

  • Patrick McDonald Claims Bravo Cut Ties Over OnlyFans and Criticizes Reality TV Work Culture

Patrick McDonald Claims Bravo Cut Ties Over OnlyFans and Criticizes Reality TV Work Culture

Emmy-nominated producer Patrick McDonald, known for his work on Bravo’s Real Housewives franchises and Vanderpump Rules, has publicly shared that his engagement with adult content on OnlyFans led to his estrangement from the network. In a pair of 9-minute videos posted on social media, McDonald detailed the fallout, claiming his collaboration with Bravo halted shortly after he launched his OnlyFans account in August 2024.

McDonald Opens Up About His Decision

McDonald, who used the username ThiccTrick1 for his OnlyFans content, was candid about the risks involved in his decision. “I’m not an idiot. I knew there was a chance when I started making adult content it could jeopardize my work with Bravo,” he said. However, he questioned why his career was impacted while several on-camera talent associated with Bravo, including Larsa Pippen and Denise Richards, appeared to have maintained their own adult content ventures without facing the same consequences.

“I’ve seen on-screen talent have similar accounts without issues, but as soon as I did it, my opportunities with Bravo disappeared,” McDonald pointed out. He suggested a double standard in the way the network treated producers versus its on-camera personalities.

The Reality of Reality TV Work Conditions

In addition to the impact of his OnlyFans activity, McDonald also criticized the behind-the-scenes environment in reality TV production. He recounted the harsh working conditions faced by producers, such as long days and grueling international travel. McDonald noted that these demanding schedules eventually led him to explore other career paths, including adult content creation.

“My passion for the genre started to wane as a result of how poorly the cast and crew were treated at times,” McDonald said, citing frequent 22-hour flights followed by full shooting days with no rest.

    A Controversial Incident Sparks Change

McDonald also discussed an incident involving a cast member’s personal life, which he implied was related to Real Housewives star Kyle Richards. Although he didn’t name Richards directly, McDonald hinted at the ongoing rumors about her relationship with country singer Morgan Wade. He alleged that the producers pushed a storyline involving the cast member’s sexuality, despite the individual wanting privacy.

“The circumstances around that storyline were a major contributing factor to me realizing that it was time to make a change,” McDonald explained. He described the internal discussions as “insensitive, problematic, and quite frankly gross,” adding that he didn’t agree with the attempt to out someone without their consent.

    Transition to Adult Content

After witnessing the work-life balance of his friends in the adult entertainment industry, McDonald began contemplating a career change. “Honestly, adult entertainment is something I’ve been interested in doing for a long time, but I was too scared to do it because of the fear of what other people might think,” he said.

Despite the professional fallout, McDonald expressed no regrets about his shift into adult content creation. “Sex work is real, legitimate work, and it has been since the dawn of time,” he emphasized.

McDonald’s experience isn’t unique. He highlighted how other Bravo personalities, like Pippen and Richards, have ventured into platforms like OnlyFans without facing significant backlash from the network. This inconsistency in how Bravo handles adult content creation has raised questions about the network’s policies.

His claims also echo a broader trend in the entertainment industry. Last August, X-Men 97 creator Beau DeMayo was also reportedly let go after creating adult content. McDonald’s story adds to the conversation about how adult entertainment ventures impact professional opportunities in mainstream media.

As of now, Bravo has not responded publicly to McDonald’s allegations.

  • ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2: Isabela Merced Teases ‘Undeniable’ Chemistry and LGBTQ+ Representation

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2: Isabela Merced Teases ‘Undeniable’ Chemistry and LGBTQ+ Representation

As anticipation builds for the second season of HBO’s critically acclaimed series “The Last of Us,” new cast member Isabela Merced, who portrays Dina, is offering insights into the burgeoning relationship between her character and Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey. The series returns to HBO and streams on Max beginning April 13.

In a recent interview with IMDb, Merced spoke candidly about the connection she shares with Ramsey on screen, hinting at a storyline that will resonate deeply with LGBTQ+ viewers. Reflecting on what drew her to the show, Merced expressed admiration for Ellie’s past relationship with Riley, a character portrayed in the first season by Storm Reid.

Looking ahead to season two, Merced emphasized the commitment to authenticity in portraying the bond between Dina and Ellie. “Bella’s extremely charming. Our chemistry is sort of undeniable, and the gays are going to be fed,” Merced told IMDb. “Like, they’re going to be so happy. I love it.”

Merced also shared her enthusiasm after viewing early footage of her scenes with Ramsey. “I’ve been in the editing room when they’re like, ‘Oh, what scenes do you want to watch?’ I was like, ‘All Dina-Ellie scenes only, please. I want to see it all.’ And it was wonderfully edited, edited by a gay woman, Emily [Mendez]. Yeah, they’re just going as authentic as possible, and I really love that.”

The introduction of Dina as a significant character in Ellie’s life has been long-awaited by fans of “The Last of Us” video game franchise, upon which the series is based. In the games, Dina becomes Ellie’s romantic partner, a relationship that is expected to be a key focus of the upcoming season.

A lingering question among some viewers has been the identity of “the Staring Girl,” an unnamed character who briefly appeared in the sixth episode of the first season when Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie arrive in Jackson, Wyo. The character, played by Paolina Van Kleef, was seen intently observing Ellie, leading to fan theories that she might be a younger Dina.

Merced addressed this speculation in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I did see that,” Merced said, noting the similarity in the character’s outfit to Dina’s. However, she has not yet had the opportunity to confirm this with showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.

Based on her understanding of Dina’s personality, Merced expressed some doubt about the “Staring Girl” being her character. “In my opinion, and the Dina that I’ve witnessed and seen, Dina wouldn’t run away. Dina would be like, ‘Who are you?’” Merced explained. “I don’t think she would be scared of Ellie…. I don’t think Dina would run away, scared with her tail between her legs.”

Adding another layer to Ellie’s romantic life in Jackson, the season will also introduce Noah Lamanna as Kat, described as Ellie’s first girlfriend in the community. This suggests that the series may explore different facets of Ellie’s relationships before fully delving into her connection with Dina.

“The Last of Us” season 2 will pick up the narrative five years after the conclusion of the first season. Joel and Ellie are living in the Jackson community, navigating a strained relationship. Their relative peace is shattered by the arrival of a mysterious group led by a soldier named Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).

Merced emphasized that the new season will delve deeper into Dina’s backstory compared to her initial portrayal in “The Last of Us Part II” video game. She also praised Shannon Woodward, who originated the role of Dina in the game, for providing a strong foundation for her performance. “She also gave me a stamp of approval after the premiere, which is freaking awesome, because that’s all I needed to hear as a performer,” Merced said. “It’s amazing, and she didn’t have to do that.”

With Merced’s comments highlighting the “undeniable” chemistry between Dina and Ellie and the commitment to authentic LGBTQ+ representation, “The Last of Us” season 2 is poised to further explore complex character dynamics and resonate with a broad audience when it premieres next week.

  • Lochlan Ratliff’s Turbulent Journey and Sexuality Struggles Culminate in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Finale

Lochlan Ratliff’s Turbulent Journey and Sexuality Struggles Culminate in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Finale

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for the Season 3 finale of HBO’s The White Lotus.

In the chaotic, twist-filled finale of The White Lotus Season 3, Sam Nivola’s portrayal of Lochlan Ratliff left viewers stunned, especially after his character narrowly avoided death and had a critical heart-to-heart with his brother, Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger). The Ratliff family’s tumultuous dynamic, including their deeply complex and controversial relationship, reached a boiling point in the final episode, providing some clarity on Lochlan’s motivations and sexuality, as well as the aftermath of the infamous incestuous moment from Episode 6.

Incest, Approval, and a Pleaser’s Complex

When it came time to address the highly debated and shocking brother-on-brother sex scene from earlier in the season, Lochlan finally sat down with Saxon to explain his actions. Lochlan’s justification was unexpected, and it shed light on his psychological complexity. He revealed that his motivations had little to do with sexual attraction and everything to do with people-pleasing. In his eyes, Saxon’s focus on sex and his constant pursuit of approval left him feeling responsible for making his brother feel “included.” Lochlan, desperate to please, crossed a line that turned into a viral moment for fans but ultimately provided a weird explanation for the tension that had been building up throughout the season.

“I’m a pleaser and want to give people what they want,” Lochlan confessed, attempting to clarify that he wasn’t sexually interested in his brother but simply trying to make Saxon happy. “Since all his brother cares about is ‘getting off,’ Lochlan explained, he felt Saxon was “left out” during their drug-induced encounter. The scene was shocking to many viewers, but Lochlan’s explanation seemed to quell some of the incest speculation surrounding the Ratliff brothers.

Lochlan’s Near Death Experience and Its Aftermath

In a season packed with suspense and jaw-dropping moments, Lochlan’s near-death experience in the finale was a surprising turn of events. The character had already been through so much but when Lochlan appeared to die after ingesting poison, it seemed as though his fate was sealed. However, his eventual resurrection offered a startling twist. Nivola, in an interview with Deadline, revealed that Lochlan’s survival might have been due to his vomiting, which likely expelled enough of the poison to keep him alive. Additionally, he noted that the poison may not have been strong enough to kill Lochlan in the first place, since his father was unaware of the exact dosage.

“I think he got it all out,” Nivola said of Lochlan’s fate. “Also, I think maybe it wouldn’t have killed him anyway.” His family’s financial ruin and Timothy’s moment of desperation came to a head in the finale, but Lochlan’s survival added a layer of unexpected suspense and red herrings to the drama, particularly when compared to the fates of other characters.

The Unresolved Nature of Lochlan’s Sexuality

Throughout The White Lotus Season 3, Lochlan’s sexuality remained a central, unresolved question. In his final conversation with Saxon, it became clear that Lochlan was not exploring any romantic or sexual desires for his brother, but rather struggling with a deeper, existential need for family approval and emotional connection. Nivola confirmed that Lochlan’s actions were not about his sexuality but rather about his complicated relationship with his brother.

“I don’t think he’s sexually attracted to his brother,” Nivola said. “It’s not about sex or love. It’s more about just people and his relationship to people.” Lochlan’s awkward desire to connect with his family members, particularly Saxon, superseded any discussions about his sexuality, and the storyline ultimately left fans questioning whether Lochlan was simply acting out of misguided familial devotion rather than personal sexual exploration.

Swapped Swim Trunks: A Subtle But Iconic Detail

One of the standout, albeit humorous moments in the finale was the brief scene where Lochlan and Saxon swapped swim trunks after their intense encounter on the yacht. What many fans thought might be a spontaneous, fun addition to the episode was actually a deliberate decision made by show creator Mike White. “Mike thought it would be really funny,” Nivola explained. The brief exchange of clothes, with Lochlan sporting Saxon’s ill-fitting trunks and vice versa, became one of the most memorable visual gags of the season, further solidifying the brothers’ bizarre dynamic.

What’s Next for Lochlan and the Ratliffs?

Despite the chaos and dramatic events of the season, Lochlan’s future remains uncertain. After his near-death experience, he claimed to have seen God, but it is to be determined if the young Ratliff has actually made any strides toward leaving his people-pleasing in the past.

    The Ratliff Family. Photo: HBO

“Lochlan just wants the approval and love and attention and respect of his siblings,” Nivola said. “He just wants Piper to like him.” However, whether Lochlan will find any sense of peace or direction from these relationships, or from his spiritual journey, is something that may not be answered anytime soon.

As for his character’s growth, Nivola pointed out that Lochlan’s experience was unlikely to result in significant change. “I think he’ll be alright,” he said. “He’s already so lost, he can’t really get much more lost than he already is.”

In the end, Lochlan’s journey on The White Lotus may not have given him all the answers he was seeking, but it left audiences with a lot to ponder about family dynamics, sexuality, and the struggles of finding one’s identity. While his fate remains uncertain, Lochlan Ratliff’s journey through the chaos of his family is far from over, leaving the door wide open for future exploration.

Arnas Fedaravicius Breaks Hearts (and DMs) with His ‘White Lotus’ Charms

Season 3 of The White Lotus has introduced a new heartthrob in the form of Valentin, played by Arnas Fedaravicius. The Lithuanian actor, who portrays a Russian health mentor working at the resort, quickly became the talk of the show—both among the characters and the fans watching at home. With his charm, good looks, and undeniable appeal, Valentin has become the latest addition to the show’s ever-growing roster of eye-catching staff members.

A Breakout Role in The White Lotus

At just 33 years old, Fedaravicius is no stranger to television, having previously appeared in shows like The Last Kingdom, The Wheel of Time, and Shetland. But it’s his role as Valentin in The White Lotus that has propelled him to new heights of fame. Fans have been especially drawn to his character, who has a magnetic presence and quickly catches the attention of three of the season’s main characters—Laurie (Carrie Coon), Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), and Kate (Leslie Bibb).

The actor’s portrayal of Valentin, with his alluring charisma and sculpted physique, didn’t just win over the characters in the series; it also earned him a huge following on social media. In fact, Fedaravicius revealed that his DMs have been flooded with messages from fans, with a particular surge of attention from the gay community.

When asked about the fan reactions to his role, Fedaravicius couldn’t help but laugh. In an interview with Club Cine, he said, “I’ve been receiving so much gay love. My DMs are full.” The actor acknowledged that while the attention was unexpected, it was also a welcome part of the experience.

Fedaravicius shared a particularly funny anecdote about the online chatter surrounding his role. “I saw someone on Instagram do a smash or pass with five of us [actors]: Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, and myself,” he recalled. The humorous post is just one example of how fans have embraced Valentin as the new fan-favorite heartthrob of the season.

    Embracing the “Heartthrob” Label

While many actors might shy away from being labeled a “heartthrob,” Fedaravicius takes it all in stride. He revealed that the costume for his opening scene, which quickly became a standout moment, was actually added at the last minute. “I immediately saw what they were going for,” he explained in an interview with Flaunt. The actor admits that he’s not unfamiliar with receiving attention for his looks, though he finds it amusing. “I’ve experienced that kind of attention in my life before, not in a negative way, but it’s amusing. It’s part of the character, and you just roll with it.”

While Fedaravicius takes the attention in good humor, he also admitted that some of the messages he’s received since the show’s airing have crossed the line. “Some are funny, some are flattering, and some are… a bit much!” he said with a laugh. Despite this, he maintains a light-hearted perspective. “As long as it stays respectful, I don’t mind embracing that aspect of Valentin’s character.”

Parker Posey Reveals She ‘Forgot’ Who Dies in The White Lotus Season 3 Finale: ‘It Was So Stressful’

As the highly anticipated season 3 finale of The White Lotus approaches, fans aren’t the only ones eagerly awaiting the dramatic conclusion to the hit HBO series. Cast members, including Parker Posey, who portrays Victoria Ratliff, are also on edge, eager to uncover the fate of their characters. Posey admitted during a recent interview that although she might have known how the season would end at one point, the details have slipped her mind.

“I forgot who died,” Posey shared in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “It was so stressful when I read it. The dark stuff, I blazed through.” While Posey’s character may not be the one meeting an untimely end, she, like the audience, is left in suspense, eagerly awaiting the final moments of the season.

The season 3 finale, which will air on April 6, promises to be another gripping conclusion that will likely keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Fans of The White Lotus know all too well that each season concludes with a shocking death, and creator Mike White has hinted that this finale will be no different.

Posey’s co-star, Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays her onscreen son Saxon, revealed that he, too, is in the dark about how the season will conclude. “I’m just excited to watch the finale with the rest of the world because I actually have no idea what happens,” Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter. His excitement to experience the finale alongside viewers underscores the level of secrecy that surrounds the show’s plot twists.

As is typical with The White Lotus, the season 3 finale has been tightly guarded, with spoilers kept to an absolute minimum. Jon Gries, who made a surprising return to the show after possibly being involved in the shocking death of Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya in season 2, teased that viewers will be left shocked. “Whatever you think you know, you’re going to get it wrong,” Gries teased, building anticipation for the highly secretive ending.

Mike White Promises an “Epic” Finale

Creator Mike White has been known for his meticulous attention to detail, particularly when it comes to the finale of each season. White expressed his excitement about the upcoming finale, which will run for an hour and a half. “As a filmmaker, it’s probably the piece of work that I’m like, ‘I can’t believe I did that,’” White said, hinting that the episode will be a major achievement in his career.

White also addressed the inevitable reactions to the finale, acknowledging that viewers will have differing opinions. “People are going to hate Mike White,” said Charlotte Le Bon, who plays Chloe in the new season. She jokingly added that the finale will likely leave fans in emotional turmoil.

White, however, hopes the finale will leave viewers feeling a bittersweet sense of closure. “My hope is that it’ll feel like a cathartic sad or a satisfying sad and not a ‘What the f—?’ sad,” White said. “But people are going to have a million different opinions. You just hope you stick the landing.” Given the history of shocking twists on the show, fans are bracing for an ending that will likely leave them talking long after the credits roll.

    Keeping the Finale Under Wraps

To ensure that the series finale remains a mystery until it airs, The White Lotus team has taken extreme measures to prevent leaks. Executive producer David Bernad explained that the show goes to great lengths to keep the secret of the finale under wraps. “We have fake endings to the scripts,” Bernad said. “So we wrote up — we have six different endings — and we kind of distributed fake endings to people just in case someone leaked anything, and then we could say there’s different fake endings.”

This attention to secrecy extends to the set as well. Bernad explained that when filming the final scenes, the set is “locked down,” and non-production personnel are never allowed access to crucial scenes. This level of security helps to preserve the mystery of the finale and keeps spoilers from reaching the public before the episode airs.

Maria Shriver’s Curiosity About the Finale

The anticipation surrounding the White Lotus season 3 finale is so intense that even those close to the cast are feeling the suspense. Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver, took to Instagram on April 3 to address the question she has been asked repeatedly: What will happen to her son Saxon?

“I may be on a book tour promoting my new book, I Am Maria, but everywhere I go everyone keeps asking me about @patrickschwarzenegger, about @thewhitelotus, about what’s going to happen to Saxon, if he’s going to die,” Shriver wrote on Instagram, alongside an edited image of her book cover, which read “I Am Patrick’s Mother” instead of “I Am Maria.”

Shriver humorously noted that, despite being the mother of one of the show’s central characters, she knows just as little as the rest of the world about Saxon’s fate. “I may be Patrick’s mother, but I know NOTHING! No one believes me, but it’s true,” she wrote, inviting fans to speculate on what might happen in the finale before encouraging them to check out her own book.

The humorous post illustrates the level of curiosity that surrounds the fate of The White Lotus characters, even among those closest to the cast.

The White Lotus Finale Is Almost Here

As the clock ticks down to the highly anticipated White Lotus season 3 finale, both the cast and the fans are on edge, eagerly awaiting the revelations that will come with it. With promises of shocking twists, emotional farewells, and possibly another shocking death, the finale is set to be one for the ages.

The season 3 finale of The White Lotus will air on Sunday, April 6, at 9 p.m. ET on Max. Gayle King Recites Gay Slur During Live TV Interview with Matteo Lane: ‘What in the F—-try is Going On?’

Before embarking on her upcoming space journey, CBS Mornings host Gayle King has found herself at the center of attention on Earth after quoting a comedian’s uncensored gay slur during a live TV interview. The taping, which occurred on Thursday’s episode of CBS Mornings, has sparked widespread discussion, with reactions ranging from shock to praise.

King interviewed comedian Matteo Lane to promote his new book Your Pasta Sucks, which, according to Lane, highlights his passion for cooking and humor. The interview, which was meant to be lighthearted, took an unexpected turn when King decided to quote one of Lane’s stand-up jokes during their conversation.

The moment occurred when King, excited to delve into Lane’s stand-up material, asked him about a joke he performs about white women in the kitchen. “Can we talk about the stand-up? Can I just say one joke? I hope I don’t get in trouble,” King said before launching into the quote. “You do a riff about white women who approached you, and they said something about cooking, and you said, ‘What in the f—-try are you talking about?’”

To the surprise of viewers, the CBS network did not censor the slur during the live broadcast, nor did they edit it when the interview was later uploaded to YouTube. However, after Entertainment Weekly reached out for comment on Friday, the video was removed from both the CBS News website and YouTube. Despite the removal, the footage remains available on other platforms, including user-uploaded clips on X (formerly Twitter).

As the clip aired, Lane was seen laughing and placing his hand over his mouth in reaction to the quote. King, clearly amused, responded by saying, “I thought that was hilarious. What does that mean?” Lane, in a playful tone, explained, “I love you, Gayle King. It means exactly what you think it means. White women, they’re fine during the day, but they have one sip of a rosé and they’re like, ‘Tonight’s about me!’ They won’t stop, I’m telling you. Horrible.”

While Lane has not publicly commented on the exchange, he did share a censored version of the quote on his Instagram page, signaling his awareness of the controversy surrounding the moment. Entertainment Weekly later confirmed that the slur was removed from subsequent airings of the program and its digital versions, including its social media accounts. The clip’s removal from YouTube and CBS’s website followed the backlash generated by the uncensored remark.

The controversy has divided opinions across the internet, with some users praising King’s candidness and others expressing shock at the inappropriate language used on national television. Bob the Drag Queen, a comedian and RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 winner, reposted the clip on social media and referred to King’s use of the slur as “honestly iconic.” For Bob, the moment seemed to reinforce the often irreverent, boundary-pushing humor that is characteristic of Lane’s comedy.

However, other viewers were less forgiving. One user on X (formerly Twitter) posted their astonishment, writing, “Did Gayle King just say that out loud on national TV!!!!!! I’m GAGGED! Literally jaw dropped!” The tweet quickly went viral, with many others expressing similar disbelief at the moment’s uncensored broadcast.

The language used by King also raised questions about the role of media personalities in moderating the content they repeat and amplify, particularly when it comes to using potentially offensive language in a public forum. Critics have pointed out that as a prominent figure on a widely viewed morning show, King carries significant influence and is expected to uphold certain standards of professionalism, especially when addressing sensitive or controversial topics.

As of now, CBS has not issued an official statement on the incident, and representatives for both Gayle King and Matteo Lane have not responded to requests for comment from Entertainment Weekly regarding the use of the slur or the removal of the clip from digital platforms. It remains to be seen whether the network will take further action regarding the incident, or whether King and Lane will address the situation in the coming days.

    The Incident and Its Aftermath

The uncensored moment comes at a time when public discourse surrounding language and its impact has reached new heights. Comedians, who often use provocative language to explore social issues and challenge norms, walk a fine line between humor and offense. For some, Lane’s joke about white women and their tendency to “get wild” after a glass of rosé fits within the realm of comedic satire. For others, it could be seen as perpetuating stereotypes or using derogatory language that perpetuates harm.

In the case of King, who is known for her authoritative role in journalism, the incident raises questions about her responsibility as a media personality. Is it appropriate for her to repeat a comedian’s joke without considering the potential repercussions? Should there be more oversight when such language is broadcast on a major network? These questions are likely to linger as more viewers weigh in on the incident.

It is also noteworthy that Lane, who has built a career as a stand-up comic, has yet to publicly apologize for the joke. While he may not have intended to offend, the fact that the joke was quoted in a serious context on live TV adds complexity to the conversation. The comedian’s decision to share a censored version of the joke on Instagram, while not addressing the original broadcast, further contributes to the ambiguity surrounding the incident.

The removal of the video from YouTube and CBS’s digital platforms indicates that the network recognized the potential for backlash, particularly in light of the widespread discussion that followed the airing. It’s possible that CBS, after assessing the public reaction, determined that the use of the slur was inappropriate for their audience, leading to the swift removal of the footage.

What’s Next for Gayle King and Matteo Lane?

For Gayle King, the incident adds a layer of complexity to her already high-profile career. Known for her role as co-host of CBS Mornings and her longstanding tenure at CBS News, King has built a reputation as a respected journalist and television personality. As she prepares for her upcoming space mission, which is set to make headlines in the coming months, this controversy may raise questions about her judgment and professionalism moving forward.

For Matteo Lane, the attention from this incident may serve to amplify his already growing visibility in the entertainment industry. Known for his stand-up comedy, Lane has cultivated a following with his sharp wit and fearless approach to humor. Whether or not the controversy will impact his career remains to be seen, but it has certainly brought him further into the public spotlight.

Dylan Efron Turns Up the Heat Again With Shirtless Selfie That Has Fans Melting

Dylan Efron, star of The Traitors and younger brother of Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron, is once again setting the internet ablaze with a shirtless selfie that has his followers—especially the LGBTQ+ community—losing their minds. The 37-year-old reality TV star shared a series of photos on Instagram on Friday morning, and while most were wholesome camping shots, the first and last images had fans clutching their pearls.

The first image in the post features a shirtless Dylan sitting in a makeup chair, giving a coy smile to the camera, while the last photo shows him posing confidently with his glistening chest and toned abs on full display, gazing directly into the lens.

When Pop Crave reposted the images on X (formerly Twitter), the reactions were swift and full of longing. The post flooded with comments from fans expressing their admiration for Dylan’s chiseled physique. “I’m just a hole,” one fan commented. Another quipped, “He can top me,” while another simply declared, “He wants to kill us! We love it! Keep going.” These playful remarks underscore how Dylan Efron has become a beloved thirst trap icon for his followers.

This isn’t the first time Dylan has generated such fervor among his fans. While starring on The Traitors, Dylan became a sensation when he shared a photo of himself on the beach, arching his back in a suggestive pose. His back arch quickly turned into a viral moment, and fans couldn’t stop talking about it. The image sparked such excitement that it almost overshadowed the actual content of the show.

Dylan, always self-aware, recently opened up to PRIDE about the overwhelming response to his now-infamous back arch photo. “I hid [the arch pic] in the back of a carousel, and that thing resurfaced with a storm!” he said. “That’s why I’m here. I love how inclusive this community is. That’s the best feeling in the world to be accepted like that.” It’s clear that Dylan’s sense of humor and openness have made him a favorite, particularly among his LGBTQ+ fans, who appreciate his authenticity.

He didn’t stop there. Dylan admitted he plans to take even more thirst-worthy photos, calling it “what I’m good at.” So, it looks like the internet can expect more sizzling posts from Dylan in the future, and based on his track record, they’ll certainly be worth the wait.

Dylan Efron Knows How to Work the Internet

Dylan has become a master of the thirst trap, a genre of social media posts that flaunt one’s physique with the intent of sparking a reaction. Whether it’s his iconic beach photos, flexing his abs while tightrope walking, or lounging in a hot spring, Dylan has perfected the art of the sexy selfie. In a recent interview at the GLAAD Media Awards with PEOPLE, Dylan explained what makes his thirst traps so effective.

“The secret’s just knowing that I’m in on the joke,” Dylan said, acknowledging the playful nature of these posts. “I know I’m posting thirst traps, and some people love it, some people hate it, but it’s fun at the end of the day.” He added that Instagram is meant to be about fun, and he’s happy to embrace the humor in posting these types of photos.

Dylan’s ability to laugh at himself while simultaneously delivering show-stopping posts has earned him a loyal following. He doesn’t take himself too seriously, and that self-awareness only makes his thirst traps more endearing. He’s unapologetically confident and knows exactly what his followers enjoy.

In addition to his thirst traps, Dylan has also gained significant recognition for his role on The Traitors. As the season 3 star of the reality competition series, he became a fan favorite thanks to his strategic gameplay and affable personality. His time on the show helped elevate his status beyond just being Zac Efron’s brother, and fans began to take notice of him for his unique charm and charisma.

Despite his growing fame, Dylan remains grounded and humble. “I’m so appreciative of it all, but I live a very simple life,” he told PEOPLE during an appearance at the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. “I still walk my dog, I still grocery shop, so my day-to-day hasn’t changed much, but I’m so grateful for the support.”

He’s also committed to keeping his personal life private, especially in terms of his relationship with long-time girlfriend Courtney King. The couple, who have been together since high school, prefer to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. “That’s what keeps me grounded. My girlfriend’s so offline, so every conversation with her is just our realities and we’re not thinking about what’s online or DMs or in the news,” Dylan explained. “It’s just what our dog’s going to do tonight.”

A Rising Star in Reality TV

While Dylan’s rise to fame has been propelled by his thirst traps and reality TV appearances, he remains modest about his success. He doesn’t seek advice from his famous older brother Zac when it comes to his reality TV career, noting that Zac’s expertise is in acting, not the realm of reality competitions or social media fame.

“I’m not going to take tips from Zac on this because he has no idea how these shows work,” Dylan explained. “Zac’s an actor. If I was going into acting for something, he would be the first one to give me some tips, but this is a different realm.”

Dylan’s success on The Traitors—which he co-won—only further solidified his status as a breakout star. His ability to connect with audiences and remain true to himself has won him a loyal fanbase, many of whom continue to follow him for his honest approach to social media and his genuine personality.
