0

For the first time in Royal Family history, Prince William spoke out against anti-LGBT bullying and homophobia. The future King, visited a school today and provided them with tips to prevent bullying.

Prince William and specialist staff from the Diana Award, which focuses on inspiring young people to become social active, said “I would start on that side [comfort the victim and end up here [confront the bully].”

Throughout history, the Royals avoided LGBT equality, and have never spoke in favor of same-sex marriage. But, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said “ He [Prince William] hopes it will help de-stigmatize bullying issues in schools.” In addition, Prince William hopes to empower children to stand together to fight bullying so that no one suffers in silence.

Young Man Beaten With a Beer Bottle for Being Gay

0

According to CBCNews, a homophobe beat a 21-year-old gay man with a beer bottle after calling him a slur. The young man, Mathieu Grégoire, went to the hospital following the attack and then took to social media to spread the word.

Grégoire told the CBCNews, he “I looked at him and said ‘you’re super hot’,” using a French word that means “drunk” or “hot.” “The guy thought I was saying he was drunk, and that I was insulting him,” Grégoire added. He believes the assault happened because he’s gay. “If the guy had called me an idiot, I would not have turned to confront him. My sister would have taken me by the hand and led me away,” said Grégoire.

Grégoire shared the photo above on his Facebook page, and received words of encouragement and support.

Before the Warwick Rowers graced your walls, there was another must-have calendar. For the last 16 years, a French rugby team posed for the Dieux du Stade calendar and we’re so glad they do.

For the Dieux du Stade 2016 calendar, photographer Fred Goudon captured the  rugged side of rugby in a way that will capture your attention throughout the year. Apparently, this year’s Dieux du Stade calendar features some revealing months (thanks OhLaLa Mag).

Mom Asks Reddit, ‘My 15-Year-Old Son Is On Grindr, What Should I Do?’

0

A year ago, an anonymous mom posted on Reddit and asked, ‘My 15-year-old son is on Grindr, what should I do?‘ Here’s her story:

I’m a 35-year-old single mom. My son turned 15 in January. Last night I was at a party, and a gay friend of mine was showing me some funny messages he got on Grindr. It buzzed a couple times while we were looking at it and I realized I have been hearing those tones in my apartment.

It’s not really a shock to (kind of) find out my son is gay. I’ve kind of had my suspicions. What I don’t know is what to do now. On the one hand, I don’t want to force him to say anything to him until he’s ready, but on the other hand I don’t want him using Grindr (I have nothing against it, I use online dating sites myself, he’s just too young).

I’m going to have to say something about it, but I’d appreciate any advice about how I should go about this.

We’re curious, what advice would you give her? Leave a comment on our Facebook post!

Ryan O’Connell Asks, ‘Would You F*ck Me?’

0

Growing up gay is hard, but growing up gay with cerebral palsy is a total bitch. In an essay for Broadly., Ryan O’Connell said “Growing up, images of gay men told me I was the worst candidate for homosexuality. I knew no disabled gay men. I never saw physically imperfect gay men on TV… When you don’t see any version of yourself, you’re taught to believe that you don’t matter. You are fundamentally wrong somehow.”

O’Connell’s essay is perfectly titled I Wouldn’t Fuck Me: My Life as a Gay and Disabled Man. Throughout the essay, he talks about his experiences as a gay twenty-something with a disability. O’Connell says “I experienced so many unrequited crushes. So much flat-out rejection. I remember being 19 years old, waiting in line at a gay club with a very attractive friend. A guy walked up to us, looked at my hot friend, and said, “Damn, you’re sexy.” Then he turned to me, scrunched up his nose, and said, “And you look like Harry Potter.”

This essay is definitely worth a read and is incredibly relatable for all gay men. It tackles issues that plague the community like fitness and our obsession with perfection. And, he brings up valid point; the concept of perfection is unachievable and meaningless. “I could get in the best shape of my life and still never measure up. I can get abs by forgoing margaritas, I can get the perfect ass by doing squats, but my limp is here to stay, and my scars aren’t going anywhere.”
