Pabllo Vittar to Headline ‘Fabric of Freedom’ at WorldPride DC 2025

Get ready, Pride fans—international pop sensation and LGBTQ+ icon Pabllo Vittar is bringing her signature sparkle and electric energy to WorldPride DC 2025.

Organizers announced Thursday that Vittar will headline Fabric of Freedom, one of the festival’s marquee events, taking place Saturday, June 7 at 1235 W Street NE. Presented in partnership with KINETIC Presents, the massive celebration will span more than 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dance floors, with three high-energy stages set to light up the night.

The event takes its name from this year’s official WorldPride theme, The Fabric of Freedom, which honors the resilience, diversity, and unity of the global LGBTQ+ community.

“Pabllo Vittar is a dynamic performer who unites communities around the world through her music and message,” said Ryan Bos, executive director of the Capital Pride Alliance. “She’s the perfect artist to take the stage for this momentous occasion.”

Known for her genre-blending hits, fierce performances, and unapologetically queer presence, Vittar has built a loyal international following. Her shows are known to turn into full-on celebrations, and Fabric of Freedom promises to be no exception.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, and they’re expected to move fast.

But Vittar’s performance is just the beginning. WorldPride DC 2025 is curating a full weekend of nightlife events that showcase queer joy, creativity, and community from every corner of the LGBTQ+ spectrum.

On Friday, June 6, the weekend kicks off with WOVEN TOGETHER, a mega Pride party hosted by Daryl Wilson Promotions and the Capital Pride Alliance at The Park at 14th. Designed as the ultimate party for men, the event blends fashion, music, and nightlife in a space dedicated to community connection.

That same night, over at 1235 W Street NE, FULL BLOOM will take over with a stacked lineup of DJs and performances. Featuring queer nightlife collectives Flower Factory, Sweet Spot, and NYC’s The Carry Nation, the party will span three stages and offer a vibrant, inclusive dance floor for all.

  • ‘Las Culturistas’ Culture Awards to Air on Bravo and Peacock This August Celebrating Pop Culture’s Most Iconic and Outrageous Moments

‘Las Culturistas’ Culture Awards to Air on Bravo and Peacock This August Celebrating Pop Culture’s Most Iconic and Outrageous Moments

Get ready to scream “Culture!” from the rooftops. The Las Culturistas Culture Awards, hosted by podcast royalty Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, are headed to television for the first time—airing Tuesday, Aug. 5 on Bravo and streaming the next day on Peacock.

A Cultural Phenomenon Takes the Stage

Originally born from their beloved podcast Las Culturistas, Yang and Rogers’ awards show has become a celebration of pop culture’s most iconic, bizarre, and unforgettable moments. The show, now in its fourth year, isn’t just a niche fan favorite—it’s a full-blown cultural event.

Taped live in Los Angeles on July 17 and produced by Lionsgate Alternative Television, the 2025 ceremony promises over 100 gloriously absurd and oddly specific categories, live musical performances, and a star-studded lineup of presenters and guests. A full list of this year’s categories is still under wraps—but fans can expect the same witty chaos that’s made the podcast a cult hit since its 2016 debut.

Big Names, Big Laughs, Big Culture

In a joint statement, Rogers and Yang poked fun at the lofty definition of culture while perfectly capturing the show’s self-aware spirit:

“The word ‘culture’ is defined as ‘the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively,’” they said. “We are so thrilled to eliminate that whole ‘intellectual’ part entirely with the LCCAs airing on Bravo and Peacock this August… Because while what the world needs now might be love sweet love, it also needs to see an Oscar-winning actress and a Real Housewife come together to present a very heavy award to Oprah, if we can book her. Oprah, u up?!”

From Podcast to Pop Culture Powerhouse

Las Culturistas, known for its hilarious and high-low takes on everything from Tony Awards to TikTok trends, has featured guests like Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ariana Grande. With its rapid-fire segments, unfiltered opinions, and endless quotables, the podcast has redefined how queer voices celebrate pop culture—and now it’s bringing that chaotic joy to a wider TV audience.

NBCUniversal’s EVP of live events and specials, Jen Neal, called the awards show “vibrant and whimsical,” adding, “Matt and Bowen’s undeniable chemistry, playful humor and love of pop culture’s big and small moments have shaped this spirited award show, redefining what it means to celebrate culture.”

The Las Culturistas Culture Awards will air on Bravo on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and stream on Peacock the following day.

  • All WorldPride Events Canceled at Kennedy Center Under Trump-Controlled Leadership

All WorldPride Events Canceled at Kennedy Center Under Trump-Controlled Leadership

WorldPride 2025, scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., from May 17 to June 8, is encountering significant challenges due to recent leadership changes at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Several LGBTQ+ events, including the Tapestry of Pride series, have been relocated following the center’s leadership overhaul orchestrated by former President Donald Trump.

Leadership Changes at the Kennedy Center

In February 2025, President Trump dismissed the Kennedy Center’s president and chairman, replacing them with political allies, including appointing himself as chairman and Richard Grenell as the interim executive director. This restructuring has led to the cancellation of over 20 LGBTQ+ events, including performances by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., and the International Pride Orchestra. The Kennedy Center cited “financial and scheduling factors” for these cancellations, but many artists and organizers view the decisions as politically motivated.

    Relocation of Events

In response to the cancellations, the Capital Pride Alliance announced that the Tapestry of Pride series, originally scheduled for June 5–8 at the Kennedy Center, would be relocated to the WorldPride Welcome Center in downtown D.C. This series included displays of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, drag story hours, and performances by the International Pride Orchestra. The relocation aims to ensure inclusivity and maintain the event’s integrity.

    Impact on Sponsors and Artists

The Kennedy Center’s actions have led to a ripple effect across the arts community. Corporate sponsors, including Booz Allen Hamilton, have withdrawn their support for WorldPride 2025, citing concerns over the center’s new direction and the administration’s stance on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives . Artists such as Issa Rae and Low Cut Connie have canceled upcoming performances at the Kennedy Center, and several musicians with the National Symphony Orchestra have authorized a strike vote in protest.

    Concerns for LGBTQ+ Travelers

The changes at the Kennedy Center coincide with broader concerns regarding the safety and rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly transgender and nonbinary travelers. The Trump administration’s new immigration policies, which require visa applicants to declare their sex assigned at birth and ban X-gender marker passports, have raised alarms among international LGBTQ+ organizations. Countries such as Germany, Ireland, Finland, and the Netherlands have issued travel advisories warning transgender and nonbinary citizens about visiting the United States during WorldPride.

    WorldPride’s Resilience

Despite these challenges, WorldPride organizers remain committed to ensuring the event’s success. The Capital Pride Alliance emphasizes that Pride has always been a form of protest and that celebrating in the face of adversity is a powerful statement.

As WorldPride 2025 approaches, organizers and participants continue to navigate the evolving political landscape. The relocation of events from the Kennedy Center underscores the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and its commitment to visibility, inclusivity, and celebration. While the challenges are significant, the spirit of Pride remains unyielding, and the community’s determination to celebrate and advocate for equality persists.

Schukraft emphasized that the redesign isn’t just cosmetic. “We’re creating a destination that feels sophisticated and effortless—elevated, yet still full of fun.”

The Waterfront at The Pines: A Social Hub Reimagined

More than just a hotel, the project redefines the entire Waterfront at The Pines with a “campus-style” layout connecting:

    • The Blue Whale, The Canteen, The Pavilion nightclub, and The Tryst Hotel
    • Retail shops, a refreshed gym, and the expanded pool deck

    Highlights include:

    • A revitalized pool deck with more frequent public access and new events
    • A redesigned menu at The Canteen, moving beyond grab-and-go to offer fresh, high-quality meals
    • Expanded hours across venues to create a true all-day, all-season experience
    • Sustainable landscaping using native plants to beautify and conceal back-of-house operations
    • Eco-conscious policies, such as eliminating plastic bottles and partnering with local minority-owned businesses

Investing in People, Not Just Property

In addition to guest amenities, Tryst is investing over $3 million in upgraded staff housing. Seasonal employees will now have air conditioning, WiFi, TVs, and communal lounges—transforming once-basic accommodations into comfortable, modern living spaces.

Behind the scenes, Tryst has also invested in critical infrastructure like plumbing and septic systems to benefit the entire Pines community for years to come.

The Future of Fire Island Nightlife

The fun doesn’t stop at check-in. The Blue Whale will operate as usual in 2025 with an expanded menu and is slated for a major restoration in 2026. The iconic mosaic dance floor, home to the first-ever Tea Dance in 1966, will be preserved and enhanced with new covered areas and a second story.

Meanwhile, The Pavilion nightclub will relaunch High Tea this summer and will undergo a full reimagination in 2026—cementing its place as Fire Island’s nightlife centerpiece.

    Making Fire Island More Accessible

Traditionally known for its exclusive rentals and tight-knit community, Fire Island Pines hasn’t always been easy to access. The Tryst Fire Island changes that by offering direct bookings, modern amenities, and affordable luxury for all travelers—no insider hookups required.

With this transformation, Tryst is opening up The Pines to a wider LGBTQ+ audience, ensuring the island’s legacy is both honored and expanded.

More to Come from Tryst Hospitality

The Tryst Puerto Vallarta is now open for previews and officially launches April 25. In 2026, The Tryst San Juan will debut, alongside the highly anticipated reopening of Circo, the iconic gay nightclub just in time for Bad Bunny’s Summer residency.

The Canteen, The Blue Whale, Pavilion, and other venues will begin limited operations in early May, expanding to full summer hours by Memorial Day Weekend.

“Even though this upcoming set of shows is Stripped, it is not the same Stripped show as last year. It’s Stripped II, which is telling different stories,” Colby said in an exclusive interview with Out magazine. “The first Stripped Tour was more centered around my life experiences that brought me to where I am today. With Stripped II, I want to tell different stories about trans experiences and queer experiences that are more general and universal.”

The tour comes at a time when LGBTQ+ communities across the United States are facing increasing challenges, with anti-LGBTQ+ legislation on the rise. But Colby is undeterred. In fact, she’s using her platform to stand louder and prouder than ever.

“Obviously, with the state of mankind right now, it is really scary to be one’s authentic self,” she said. “But our queer strength and community are what will get us through these hard times. It is so important right now to be out, loud and proud — that is the number one weapon in our arsenal to fight back against hatred and sheer stupidity.”

Colby says the tour is not just entertainment — it’s a celebration of resilience, creativity and authenticity.

“Immersing myself in creativity is one of the ways I like to do my own work against hatred,” she said. “I always say, if we don’t like the world that we’re looking at, let’s turn ourselves inwards and make the world we want inside reflect to everyone else.”

Tickets for Stripped II go on artist pre-sale Tuesday, April 22. General on-sale begins Friday, April 25 via Sasha Colby’s official website.

  • Antoni Porowski is Hosting a ‘Cheese Rave’ with Eventbrite and You’re Totally Invited

Antoni Porowski is Hosting a ‘Cheese Rave’ with Eventbrite and You’re Totally Invited

Eventbrite, a global events marketplace, is set to launch a groundbreaking experience in New York City on April 17, 2025: the inaugural “Cheese Rave.” This unique event combines artisanal cheese tasting with electronic dance music, creating a sensory adventure that defies traditional event boundaries.

Teaming up with culinary expert and television personality Antoni Porowski, known for his role on “Queer Eye,” Eventbrite aims to blend seemingly unrelated passions into an unforgettable night. Porowski expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “Cheese and electronic music might seem like an odd pairing – and it is! But they both inspire passion and sensory joy.” He added, “This is exactly what makes Eventbrite special – it’s where your different interests can coexist and even enhance each other, no matter how unique or odd.”

The Cheese Rave promises an immersive experience, featuring go-go cheese dancers, DJ performances, a massive cheese installation, and curated tasting areas where expert mongers match flavors to attendees’ moods. It’s designed to celebrate the convergence of diverse passions in a single event.

This event aligns with findings from Eventbrite’s Fourth Spaces™ study, which revealed that 95% of individuals aged 18 to 35 are increasingly seeking experiences that bring their online interests into real life. Moreover, 79% are drawn to events that blend multiple interests into unique social experiences. The Cheese Rave embodies this trend by merging culinary delights with the energy of nightlife.

Porowski elaborated on the concept, “What makes these mashup events special is that they create spaces where different vibes and interests blend naturally.” He continued, “You’ll meet others who get what you’re into, even if what you’re into doesn’t fit into just one box; because at the end of the day, it’s about connection.”

Eventbrite’s initiative reflects a broader cultural movement towards genre-blending experiences. Whether it’s combining sustainable fashion with indie film or immersive theater with craft cocktails, there’s a growing desire to explore and celebrate the intersections of various interests.

To further enhance event discovery, Eventbrite has introduced “It-Lists,” curated recommendations from cultural tastemakers. Porowski, as a featured tastemaker, shares his handpicked selection of under-the-radar foodie experiences in NYC and DC. His It-List guides attendees to spots where culinary creativity meets community, helping them tap into the most exciting food events that blend multiple passions in one place.

Tickets for the Cheese Rave are exclusively available on Eventbrite. For more details about the event and to explore upcoming genre-blending experiences, visit Eventbrite’s official website.
