  • Sasha Allen’s Bold New EP ‘Jawbreaker’ Is a Love Letter to Life, Music—and Adore Delano

Sasha Allen’s Bold New EP ‘Jawbreaker’ Is a Love Letter to Life, Music—and Adore Delano

Transgender singer-songwriter Sasha Allen has officially released his debut solo EP, Jawbreaker, a project years in the making and filled with personal lyrics, biting wit, and heartfelt moments. The Voice alum—who captured national attention in 2021 as part of the father-son duo Jim and Sasha Allen—emerges in full solo force on this release, with an equally powerful muse by his side: his girlfriend, fellow singer and RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar Adore Delano.

Allen says the title track, “Jawbreaker,” inspired the name of the EP because of the way it captured a pivotal, life-changing moment—meeting Delano in late 2024. “Some of the songs on the EP I wrote many years ago, but this track symbolized something new and blossoming in my life,” he told Out in a recent interview.

“Jawbreaker” is more than just a clever title. As Allen explains, it reflects a duality. The word references a candy that’s hard to chew but sweet once you get through the shell, and it’s also used to describe complex, hard-to-pronounce words—a metaphor that fits perfectly for someone who’s navigated challenges around language, identity, and self-expression.

Born and raised in Newtown, Connecticut, Allen began his medical transition at 16 and has used music as a form of storytelling and healing ever since. His new EP, Jawbreaker, touches on everything from buried trauma to radical acceptance. On the track “Bones,” Allen sings about a future archeological dig where transgender socialists find the remains of people like him—and those who tried to erase their identities.

The EP is both personal and political. “When I Forgive You” stands out as one of the most emotionally rich songs, dedicated to Allen’s 90-year-old Catholic grandmother, Nancy Kennedy, who has shown him unconditional love. The song even includes a real voicemail from her. “If this person, who is so devout in her faith, can accept me just as I am, then there is so much room for more acceptance in the world,” Allen said.

The road to releasing Jawbreaker hasn’t been simple. After his time on The Voice, where he and his father were coached by Ariana Grande, Allen signed with Republic Records—part of the Universal Music Group umbrella. While it seemed like a dream come true, he soon found himself creatively stifled. “I was the smallest fish in the biggest pond,” Allen said. “It became the classic label story: lots of waiting, trying to change me, and not being heard.”

Enter Adore Delano. The two met on November 1, 2024, when Allen sent her a spontaneous DM. “Shoot your shot,” he jokes now. “I just did it, and it worked.” The connection was instant. Delano, a seasoned performer who’s experienced the ups and downs of the music industry herself, immediately saw Allen’s frustration and helped him see a way out. “She was like, ‘They shelved you. You need to get off that label,’” Allen recalled. “She gave me the courage to ask to be dropped.”

Within a week of leaving the label, Allen released “When I Forgive You” as the lead single and began building the rest of Jawbreaker from scratch—with a DIY setup in Delano’s closet. The EP includes two songs inspired directly by their relationship: the title track and “Kick Us Out Again,” which recounts the couple getting kicked out of a West Hollywood club for cuddling in a booth for three hours.

Their romance is more than just a love story—it’s also a partnership built on shared experiences as trans individuals. “I started transitioning when I was 16; she started at 33,” Allen said. “We talk about everything. It’s a really unique bond. We just get each other.”

As for how he made things official? In true romantic fashion, Allen proposed “Love Is Blind” style—getting down on one knee while joking about a broken dishwasher. “Very cheese ball,” he admits. “But she liked it.”

With Jawbreaker, Sasha Allen is not only reclaiming his artistic voice but also redefining what freedom and love look like as a young transgender artist. And as for the message he wants to share with trans youth today? “Do not let them steal your joy. There are people fighting for you, and life gets so much better.”

Sasha Allen’s Jawbreaker EP is now available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Amazon Music. Fans can also purchase official merchandise at SashaAllenMusic.com.

  • Alexander Skarsgård Stars in Kinky Gay Romance ‘Pillion’ Heading to Cannes

Alexander Skarsgård Stars in Kinky Gay Romance ‘Pillion’ Heading to Cannes

Buckle up (and maybe bring a safe word). The 2025 Cannes Film Festival has revealed its official lineup—and this year, it’s bringing a thrilling wave of queer stories, including one scandalously seductive motorcycle romance that’s already revving engines.

Among the buzziest world premieres is Pillion, the debut feature from director Harry Lighton. The film, which Variety has cheekily described as a “fun and filthy romance with heart,” stars Alexander Skarsgård (The Northman) and Harry Melling (The Queen’s Gambit) in what’s shaping up to be one of the most talked-about entries at the festival.

A post shared by Element Pictures (@element_pictures)

Pillion, named after the back seat of a motorcycle, follows Colin (Melling), a shy, unassuming man drifting through life—until he meets Ray (Skarsgård), a magnetic motorcycle club leader with a commanding presence and a flair for kink. What starts as an erotic thrill ride quickly deepens, as Colin is pulled into a tight-knit community of queer bikers, awakening new desires and emotional truths.

“Ray uproots Colin from his dreary suburban life,” Variety reports, “introducing him to a community of kinky, queer bikers and taking all sorts of virginities along the way.” But as the lines between liberation and domination blur, Colin begins to question whether he’s truly found freedom—or simply traded one kind of confinement for another.

If that doesn’t scream “Cannes chaos,” we don’t know what does.

But Pillion is just one of several standout LGBTQ+ stories headed to the Croisette this year. The lineup also features Rebecca Zlotowski’s Vie Privée, starring Jodie Foster as a high-profile psychiatrist investigating the mysterious death of a patient; Kelly Reichardt’s high-stakes heist film The Mastermind; and Oliver Hermanus’ historical romance The History of Sound, which stars Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal as two men recording folk songs—and falling in love—while traveling across the U.S. during World War I.

With themes spanning mystery, music, mayhem, and motorcycles, the 2025 Cannes Film Festival promises a bold and eclectic celebration of cinema.

The festival runs from May 13 to May 24 on the iconic French Riviera. Bring your sunscreen—and your emotional armor.

Emira D’Spain Makes History as First Trans Cast Member on Bravo with Next Gen NYC

Emira D’Spain is no stranger to breaking barriers, and now she’s making Bravo history. After becoming the first Black trans woman to model for Victoria’s Secret, D’Spain is adding another milestone to her résumé: she’s officially the first trans person to join Bravo as a full-time cast member, starring in the network’s upcoming reality series Next Gen NYC.

Known online as @XOXOEMIRA, D’Spain is a content creator, beauty expert, and social media force to be reckoned with, boasting a large following across TikTok and Instagram. Now, she’s ready to bring her charisma and ambition to television screens in Bravo’s latest unscripted show.

    Who Is Emira D’Spain?

Born in the United Arab Emirates and raised in Dallas, D’Spain is 28 years old and a graduate of New York University, where she earned a degree in Marketing and Communications. Her career has been on a steady rise ever since. She famously turned a beauty internship into a full-time role as beauty director at Paper magazine—while also building a name for herself as a trendsetting influencer in the fashion and beauty space.

Now, she’s stepping into a new role: reality TV star.

    What Is Next Gen NYC?

Bravo’s Next Gen NYC is a fresh take on the network’s long-standing legacy of drama, friendship, and aspirational living. The show follows a group of twenty- and thirty-somethings navigating relationships, careers, and city life with cameras in tow.

While many cast members are the now-grown children of Real Housewives stars, D’Spain brings something different to the table—her own story, hustle, and magnetic presence.

“Emira has hustle in her DNA,” Bravo said in a press release. “Born in Dubai and raised in Dallas, she turned her NYU degree and a killer internship into a coveted role as Paper magazine’s beauty director. Now, she’s thriving as one of New York’s most successful content creators.”

    And yes—there will be drama.

D’Spain teased her upcoming TV debut with a promotional image on Instagram, captioned, “Time to be messy… 👀.” While she’s known for staying above the fray, her Next Gen NYC bio hints at some shakeups this summer: “She usually stays above the drama, but this summer, balancing romance and friendship loyalties might disrupt her perfectly planned hustle.”

With her unique background, unapologetic confidence, and polished aesthetic, D’Spain is poised to be a standout on Next Gen NYC—and a trailblazer for more inclusive representation in reality TV.

Next Gen NYC premieres Tuesday, June 3, on Bravo. And if Emira D’Spain has anything to say about it, things are about to get very interesting.

  • JoJo Siwa Calls Out Mickey Rourke’s Homophobic Comments on Celebrity Big Brother

JoJo Siwa Calls Out Mickey Rourke’s Homophobic Comments on Celebrity Big Brother

Mickey Rourke’s time on Celebrity Big Brother hit a serious snag after comments he made to JoJo Siwa sparked outrage. The actor and former boxer, known for his roles in films like The Wrestler, reportedly made insensitive and homophobic remarks towards the queer pop star, leading to a formal warning from producers.

The tension unfolded during a heated exchange between Rourke and Siwa, where the Karma singer explained she was attracted to girls and currently in a relationship with her non-binary partner, Kath Ebbs. Things took a bizarre turn when Rourke allegedly told Siwa, “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.”

Siwa, unfazed, responded, “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay, and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.” The young star’s response didn’t seem to deter Rourke, who later made troubling comments to other contestants, reportedly saying he wanted to “vote the lesbian out real quick,” which Siwa overheard. She called his words “homophobic, if that was your reasoning.”

However, the situation escalated when Rourke allegedly used a derogatory slur, saying, “I need a f*g,” before heading to the smoking area. He also reportedly made a gesture towards Siwa, adding, “I’m not talking to you.” This led to an official reprimand from Celebrity Big Brother producers, who informed Rourke that his language was “offensive and unacceptable” and warned him that any further incidents could result in his removal from the house.

    View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Celebrity Big Brother UK (@bbuk)

Rourke did offer an apology, downplaying the incident. “I don’t have dishonorable intentions,” he said. “I’m just talking smack, you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean any bad intentions, and if I did, sorry.”

Unfortunately for Rourke, this isn’t his first controversy involving homophobic language. Back in 2009, he faced backlash after using the F-slur when speaking to a journalist, famously saying, “I don’t really give a f*ck.” He also made headlines in 2016 for defending boxer Manny Pacquiao’s anti-gay remarks, although he attempted to downplay his own position by saying, “I got a lot of gay friends. I’m a little bit gay myself,” before kissing a nearby man.

Despite his apology, viewers of Celebrity Big Brother aren’t buying it. Many are calling for Rourke’s removal from the show, with some questioning how long he will last given the intense atmosphere in the house. On the other hand, Siwa has been praised for handling the situation with grace and continuing to be a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

As the drama unfolds, it’s clear that Siwa’s resilience in the face of Rourke’s comments has earned her support from fans and fellow contestants alike. Meanwhile, Rourke’s future on the show looks uncertain—especially when you consider the blossoming friendships in the house, including Danny Beard’s unexpected bond with former Member of Parliament Michael Fabricant.

Viewers will have to tune in to see what happens next. But one thing is clear: if Rourke continues down this path, his stay on Celebrity Big Brother could be short-lived.

  • Benito Skinner Dishes on College Must-Haves, Coming Out, and Why Disney Adults Are His New Obsession

Benito Skinner Dishes on College Must-Haves, Coming Out, and Why Disney Adults Are His New Obsession

Comedian, actor, and writer Benito Skinner is known for his sharp comedic timing, uncanny character work, and a closet full of wigs—but in a recent interview with Flaunt Magazine, the creator of the upcoming series Overcompensating opened up in a surprisingly candid (and still hilarious) conversation about college essentials, coming out, and the quirks that still bring him joy—including, yes, “Disney Adults.”

When asked to list his college must-haves, Skinner didn’t miss a beat. “Fake ID,” he deadpanned. “Well, I know all the straight guys are bringing grey sheets, so there’s nothing I can say to stop ya.” He added condoms to the list, quipping with signature flair: “Safe sex is the best sex!”

The self-aware humor is classic Skinner, who rose to fame with viral sketches and characters that lampoon everything from wellness influencers to East Coast elite. But the heart of his interview, and of Overcompensating, goes deeper than punchlines—it’s a layered look at identity, performance, and the vulnerable journey toward authenticity.

Reflecting on his college days at Georgetown, Skinner was asked what advice he’d give his freshman-year self. “I know why you’re not coming out, but I do think you should,” he said, his voice equal parts tender and bold. Then, with a laugh, he added, “You’ll never be able to handle alcohol like this again,” reminiscing on the time he downed eight shots of Burnett’s Vodka—a college classic for all the wrong reasons.

    “Overcompensating” Premieres with a Message

Skinner’s new series, Overcompensating, is as personal as it is hilarious. At its core, the show is a sharp, deeply felt exploration of identity—how we perform it, how we suppress it, and what happens when our true selves start knocking. For the show’s main character, Benny, the moment of reckoning includes a crush that can’t be ignored, vomiting up beta fish at a Charli XCX concert, and the kind of friendship that calls you out and holds you close all at once.

“I hate to call ‘being in the closet’ a lie, because I don’t think that’s what it is,” Skinner told Flaunt. “It’s something bigger than that.” For Skinner, performance isn’t deception—it’s longing. “We all just want to be loved so desperately,” he says, his words landing with a sincerity that’s tough to shake.

The series also spotlights a dynamic rarely explored with such nuance: the sibling relationship. Benny’s sister Grace—played by Skinner’s real-life best friend and comedic partner Mary Beth Barone—is the first to truly see Benny. “I was really inspired by this idea of someone who had gone to college and completely rewritten who they were for someone else,” Skinner said. Coming out, for him, wasn’t a single triumphant moment. “It’s the most complicated thing I’ve ever done in my life, and I still feel weird about it.”

Inspired by Women, Obsessed with Disney Adults

Skinner credits the women in his life and comedy legends like Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler as foundational to his voice and vision. “Women are just so much funnier than men,” he proclaims. “I can’t even believe we let men do comedy.”

That admiration shines through in Overcompensating, which, in many ways, is a love letter to the women who saw and accepted him—starting with his godmother, the inspiration behind the character Carmen. “She just sees me and loves exactly who I am. I don’t have to do anything for her,” he says.

But when Skinner isn’t writing or shooting scenes, his downtime is delightfully relatable. Feeling tired or sad? He grabs a coffee and scrolls TikTok. Lately, he’s hooked on a very specific genre of content: “Disney Adults,” he gleefully admits. “Disney Adults, THAT’S for adults!” he laughs, with genuine admiration.

As Overcompensating gears up for release, Skinner’s fans can expect a series that’s as hilarious as it is heartfelt, full of the kind of humor that hits a little too close to home—and the kind of truth that sticks with you.

Bob the Drag Queen Isn’t Returning to Drag Race and He’s More Than Fine With It

Sad news for Drag Race fans hoping to see Bob the Drag Queen back on RuPaul’s Drag Race—it seems the season eight winner has officially hung up his competition heels for good. In the latest episode of Boyfriend Material, hosted by Harry Jowsey, Bob made it clear that he has no plans to return to the Drag Race runway as a contestant.

When Jowsey asked if he would consider going back to RuPaul’s Drag Race, Bob responded, “I think I’m good,” adding, “I won already. Also, going to All Stars is, no shade, but that’s for losers. Go back to when you lost and I won.”

Though Bob joked about the All Stars season, he did acknowledge the Drag Race franchise’s All-Winners season in 2022, which he was notably absent from. “In their defense, I was busy and probably would’ve said no anyway, but it is true that I wasn’t invited,” Bob shared, giving a cheeky nod to his exclusion.

Since snatching the crown in season eight, Bob has become one of the most successful queens in Drag Race herstory. Far beyond the confines of the Drag Race stage, he’s been busy racking up impressive credits. Bob became a regular cast member on the Emmy-winning HBO series We’re Here, starred in the third season of The Traitors, and continues to earn praise for his podcast Sibling Rivalry, where he teams up with fellow Drag Race winner Monét X Change.

Bob’s other accolades include serving as Madonna‘s emcee for her Celebration Tour, starring in a number of comedy specials, and recently releasing his debut novel, Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert. His resume also boasts notable appearances in A Black Lady Sketch Show, Tales of the City, Lucifer, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, Legendary, Trixie Motel, The Simpsons, Hell’s Kitchen, and Doctor Odyssey—just to name a few.

In his interview with Jowsey, Bob also opened up about his time on Madonna’s tour, calling it a “fun, grueling, and thrilling” experience. He also reflected on his surprisingly early exit from The Traitors, and even gave a glimpse into his polyamorous relationship, describing it as “like a diagram with ribbon and yarn” and “like investigating a murder.”

For those hoping to see Bob back in the Drag Race workroom, it looks like they’ll need to settle for his many other TV and stage appearances. You can watch the full interview below for more insight into Bob’s colorful life and career.

With a remarkable 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Twinless has garnered attention for its emotional poignancy and sharp wit. The Hollywood Reporter highlighted Sweeney’s ability to mix “dry humor, gutting devastation, and emotional poignancy” to create a heartfelt and at times gut-wrenching story that resonates with audiences.

    Leaked Scenes Spark Controversy

However, not all attention surrounding the film has been positive. Following its Sundance premiere, several scenes from Twinless were leaked on social media, causing a stir online. The leaked footage, which showed Sweeney and O’Brien’s characters in an intimate moment, prompted a copyright infringement statement from the festival. A Sundance spokesperson acknowledged the issue, explaining that the festival had to remove the film from its online platform in an effort to protect the filmmakers’ intellectual property.

“We regret that online ticket holders will no longer be able to access the film,” the spokesperson said. “However, part of our commitment to advocating for independent filmmakers is ensuring that they can protect the art that they have created – now and in the future.”

    Star-Studded Cast and Anticipation Builds

In addition to Sweeney and O’Brien, Twinless features a talented ensemble cast, including Aisling Franciosi (Speak No Evil), Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Tasha Smith (Survival of the Thickest), Chris Perfetti (Abbott Elementary), François Arnaud (Blindspot), Susan Park (Snowpiercer), and Cree Cicchino (And Just Like That…).

As the film continues to make waves in the industry, LGBTQIA+ audiences and movie lovers alike eagerly await its official release. Fans of Sweeney’s past work and the strong supporting cast are sure to find something to love in Twinless when it hits cinemas later this year.
