Taylor Zakhar Perez Teases ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Sequel: ‘I Want Plausible Deniability’

Taylor Zakhar Perez is doing what many of us wish we could: dodging spoilers—especially when it comes to the hotly anticipated sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue.

Last year, fans rejoiced when director Matthew López and author Casey McQuiston officially confirmed that Red, White & Royal Blue 2 was in the works. The announcement came during a fan screening of the first film, where López declared, “Yes, there’s gonna be a sequel,” and added that he and McQuiston were co-writing it. Beyond that, lips have been sealed.

    Well, mostly.

    Taylor’s Spoiler-Free Strategy

In a recent interview with Elle, Zakhar Perez revealed that he’s deliberately staying in the dark about the sequel’s storyline—yes, by choice.

“I purposely said, ‘Please do not share with me anything until we are ready to prep it, because I want plausible deniability,’” he told the magazine.

Even though the 1Up star is keeping plot details at arm’s length, he did let one nugget slip: “I hear the script is very good.”

Honestly? Same energy as dodging group chats before you’ve seen the finale of your favorite show.

    Royal Speculation and Sequel Hopes

While Zakhar Perez hasn’t read the script, he’s not above speculation. Speaking to Variety’s Marc Malkin at the 2024 Emmy Awards, the actor hinted that the sequel might take inspiration from the special edition of the novel—known affectionately to fans as “the blue book.”

“I think it’s just continuing to grow these two characters,” he said, referring to Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry. “We just saw a nice little slice of who these guys are and what they’re able to do now.”

Let’s be honest—we’re all here for more slices. Or an entire cake.

A Queer Love Story Worth Revisiting

The original Red, White & Royal Blue film premiered on Prime Video in August 2023 and quickly became a queer rom-com classic. Zakhar Perez stars as Alex, the magnetic son of America’s first female president (played by Uma Thurman), while Nicholas Galitzine plays Henry, Britain’s buttoned-up prince with a heart of gold.

The movie received widespread praise for staying true to its source material and delivering electric chemistry between the leads. It even earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Television Movie.

With LGBTQ+ stories under increasing pressure, the return of Alex and Henry couldn’t come at a better time. Until we get more royal tea, we’ll just have to keep speculating—and maybe rewatching.

  • Fans Are Losing It After This ‘Masters of the Universe’ First Look at CinemaCon

Fans Are Losing It After This ‘Masters of the Universe’ First Look at CinemaCon

The highly anticipated Masters of the Universe film has made its first major splash at CinemaCon, debuting exclusive behind-the-scenes footage that’s already generating a wave of excitement among fans. While there was some initial skepticism when the live-action adaptation was first announced, the buzz surrounding the movie is now beginning to shift in a more positive direction.

Starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Masters of the Universe has faced its share of doubts. From the moment the project was revealed, fans of the original 1980s cartoon were concerned about how the beloved characters would be brought to life on screen. Early set photos did little to quell these worries, but the new footage shown at CinemaCon 2025 has offered a refreshing new perspective.

Behind the Scenes: A Glimpse of What’s to Come

At CinemaCon, director Travis Knight unveiled a sizzle reel packed with footage from the ongoing production of Masters of the Universe. While the footage has yet to be released online, reactions from those in attendance have been overwhelmingly positive. According to early reports, the sizzle reel focused on the authenticity of the adaptation, aiming for a balance between visual accuracy and practicality in the live-action format.

One standout aspect of the footage, noted by DiscussingFilm, is the emphasis on creating a realistic, grounded portrayal of the fantasy world of Eternia, without venturing into the realm of the absurd. The film appears to stay true to the aesthetic of the original toy line and animated series, while bringing a modern, cinematic flair to the universe.

The Hollywood Reporter offered a glimpse into the intense preparation of the cast, particularly Galitzine. Describing the actor’s rigorous training regimen, the publication highlighted his work with swordplay and weightlifting, skills necessary for the physical demands of playing He-Man. The footage also showcased Galitzine in full costume, fueling further excitement among fans eager to see how the actor embodies the iconic role.

    Fans React with Optimism

Social media reactions have been abuzz with excitement after the footage was shared, signaling a shift in sentiment toward the film. Early skepticism, which was prevalent following the announcement of the project, appears to be giving way to growing optimism. Attendees at CinemaCon were particularly impressed with the high level of detail in the costumes and the production design, which many noted were highly faithful to the original series.

“I can’t believe how spot on the costumes are,” one attendee shared on Twitter. “The sword, the sets, everything looks just like the cartoon — it’s amazing.”

The visuals were praised for their bold, vibrant colors and larger-than-life set pieces, echoing the cartoon’s signature style. Many fans took to social media to express how the production design reminded them of the fantastical world they had cherished as children. “The sword is perfect. The sets are breathtaking. Eternia is HUGE,” another tweet raved.

Some fans have even speculated that the film might become a massive box office hit, with one tweet asking, “Who said $1 billion box office for Masters of the Universe?” While it’s still early to predict the film’s financial success, the enthusiasm surrounding the footage certainly indicates that the movie has the potential to attract a wide audience.

A Faithful Adaptation, and the Return to Eternia

One of the most striking aspects of the footage shared at CinemaCon was its focus on staying faithful to the source material. As previously mentioned, the design of the costumes, the sets, and the characters themselves closely mirror those from the original animated series and toy line, providing fans with a sense of nostalgia.

In addition to Galitzine’s He-Man, other characters from the Masters of the Universe universe will be making appearances. The footage also teased glimpses of He-Man’s iconic sword, his battle armor, and the world of Eternia, which is being brought to life with a level of detail rarely seen in live-action adaptations of animated properties.

In an interview at the event, director Travis Knight shared his vision for the film, emphasizing the importance of staying true to the heart of the Masters of the Universe franchise while making it accessible for modern audiences. “We want to bring the world of He-Man to life in a way that honors the past but also feels fresh and exciting,” Knight said. “This isn’t just a nostalgia trip — it’s a whole new adventure.”

Knight also addressed the challenges of adapting a property that’s so ingrained in pop culture. “It’s a delicate balance,” he explained. “The challenge is to respect the material that people love, but also make sure the story resonates with today’s audience. I think we’ve found that sweet spot.”

    Nicholas Galitzine Takes Center Stage

The casting of Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man has been one of the most discussed elements of the film since its announcement. Known for his roles in The Craft: Legacy and Purple Hearts, Galitzine is stepping into a role that has long been associated with muscular, larger-than-life characters.

However, early set photos revealed a noticeable transformation in the actor’s physique, leading to speculation that Galitzine had been hitting the gym in preparation for the role. Recent photos from a GQ Germany photoshoot, showcasing the actor’s impressive new look, have only fueled the excitement among his fans. The transformation has garnered significant attention on social media, with many commenting on how the actor has embraced the physicality of the character.

“Has Nicholas Galitzine gone from twink to twunk?” one Twitter user jokingly asked. Regardless of how he’s categorized, there’s no doubt that Galitzine’s portrayal of He-Man will be a major draw for fans when the film hits theaters.

    Looking Ahead to June 2026

With the Masters of the Universe live-action film set for release on June 5, 2026, anticipation is building to a fever pitch. While we’re still over a year away from the movie’s premiere, the first look at the film has given fans much to look forward to. If the buzz from CinemaCon is any indication, Masters of the Universe could become one of the most talked-about films of the year, both for its stunning visuals and its faithful portrayal of a beloved franchise.

For now, fans are eagerly awaiting the next update, hoping for more glimpses of the world of Eternia and the cast that will bring it to life on the big screen. As the countdown to the release continues, one thing is for certain: Masters of the Universe is shaping up to be a spectacle worth watching.

  • Here’s Your First Look at Nicholas Galitzine Bulked-Up as He-Man for ‘Masters of The Universe’

Here’s Your First Look at Nicholas Galitzine Bulked-Up as He-Man for ‘Masters of The Universe’

Fans of the Masters of the Universe franchise have finally gotten their first look at Nicholas Galitzine in the iconic role of Prince Adam, aka He-Man, in the upcoming live-action film. The early reactions to the images have been decidedly mixed, with some excited to see the actor in the role, while others express skepticism.

Announced in May 2024, Galitzine, known for his role in Red, White & Royal Blue, will be stepping into the shoes of He-Man, a superhero with a storied history in both animation and toys. Masters of the Universe, which originated as a toy line in the 1980s, expanded into a successful animated series and a movie in 1987. The original Masters of the Universe film, starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, became a cult classic for its campy style and over-the-top action. While beloved, the franchise has not seen many live-action projects since, making this new film highly anticipated by long-time fans.

While many details about the upcoming film remain under wraps, it has been revealed that the movie will center on a young man on Earth who discovers his hidden legacy as the prince of an alien planet. The story involves his quest to recover a magical sword and return home to protect his kingdom. Aside from Galitzine as He-Man, the star-studded cast will include Camila Mendes, James Purefoy, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Charlotte Riley, and Jared Leto, who will portray the villain Skeletor. The film is being directed by Travis Knight, known for Bumblebee, with a screenplay by Chris Butler, who previously wrote ParaNorman.

Last year, fans were given an early glimpse of Galitzine’s transformation into the powerful and heroic He-Man, with set photos circulating online. Now, more images have emerged, sparking further discussion and mixed reactions from fans.

Some fans have taken to social media to express excitement over Galitzine’s casting, with many pointing out his striking appearance. One fan posted, “He’s gonna be the prettiest He-Man… and I’m sat.” These comments highlight Galitzine’s notable looks, which may differ from the traditionally muscular and rugged depiction of the character, but still resonate with fans who are drawn to his charm and appeal.

On the other hand, some are expressing concern that the casting choice may not align with their vision of He-Man. “Not a gay character!!!!! Noooo we are losing him,” lamented one fan, referencing Galitzine’s prior roles in LGBTQ+ themed projects. This sentiment underscores the ongoing challenge faced by fans who are passionate about the legacy of the Masters of the Universe franchise and the character of He-Man. Some worry that Galitzine’s casting may overshadow the traditional portrayal of the character or shift the dynamic of the film in a direction they don’t fully support.

As the Masters of the Universe franchise is reimagined for a new generation, many fans are eager to see how it will blend the franchise’s rich history with modern storytelling. The film’s premise, combining fantasy, action, and a young hero’s journey, has the potential to introduce a new audience to the classic series while keeping longtime fans engaged.

The casting of Galitzine in particular has sparked debate about the direction of the film and how it will be received by different audiences. Galitzine’s past performances, especially in LGBTQ+ roles, have garnered praise and solidified him as an actor with a broad appeal. However, some fans fear that his involvement in Masters of the Universe may change the tone or character of He-Man, who has traditionally been portrayed as a muscular, larger-than-life action figure.

Whether or not this new iteration of He-Man will capture the spirit of the original character remains to be seen. Galitzine’s portrayal will undoubtedly be a central point of discussion, as fans of the franchise weigh in on whether or not the character’s evolution aligns with their expectations.

Galitzine’s journey through iconic queer characters began with his role as a British prince in the hit rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue, where he captured hearts across the globe. Not long after, he transformed into the historical figure George Villiers in the seductive drama Mary & George.

Despite his public identity as straight, Galitzine has not shied away from embracing LGBTQ+ characters in various films and TV shows, including LegendsHandsome Devil, and The Craft: Legacy.

    Life Imitating Art?

In a candid chat with British GQ, Galitzine discussed another side of fame while promoting The Idea of You. He touched on the invasiveness of fan attention, an experience his character, a pop sensation, faces in the film.

Fans frequently struggle to distinguish the actor from the character, leading many to focus intently on Galitzine’s numerous queer roles.

Fans frequently struggle to distinguish the actor from the character, leading many to focus intently on Galitzine’s numerous queer roles.

    The Actor’s Perspective

“I am Nick, and I’m not my role,” Galitzine asserted, addressing the complexities of his acting choices. He then voiced concerns about occupying space meant for others and admitted to feeling a mix of uncertainty and guilt.

“I identify as a straight man, but I have been a part of some incredible queer stories. I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt.”

Yet, he also emphasized viewing his characters as complete individuals, not defined solely by their sexuality.

    Celebrating Queer Narratives

Galitzine also reflected on the impact of his roles within the LGBTQ+ community. “I feel so overwhelmingly proud of the resonance I’ve been able to have,” he shared on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show. He praised the nuanced, engaging characters he’s portrayed and expressed gratitude for the positive feedback from the community.

“First and foremost, I love interesting, textured characters and I’m so glad you mentioned those [roles], because I feel like I have a lot of care for my characters and I hope that is evident in the work that I do and I feel very powerful with their backing behind me, so yeah. Just very grateful.”

    A Broader Conversation

While some celebrities believe queer roles should be reserved for queer actors, others, like Eric McCormack, Stanley Tucci, and Cate Blanchett, argue that an actor’s personal sexuality shouldn’t limit their professional roles.

This debate continues to evolve as more actors, including Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor, gain acclaim for their performances in queer roles. Meanwhile, the industry often overlooks queer actors like Andrew Scott for the spotlight.

Nicholas Galitzine is quickly becoming one of the hottest young stars in Hollywood. From starring as Prince Robert in Cinderella to Prince Henry in the beloved Amazon Prime film Red, White & Royal Blue, the actor certainly knows how to capture an audience. His recent film, Bottoms, is no exception. The man has already gone viral for his role as the Quarterback Jeff.

So what is next for Galitzine? He will play a Harry Styles-inspired character in a fanfiction-based movie alongside Anne Hathaway. Yes, you read that correctly. And no, we do not know if we are more jealous of Galitzine or Hathaway.

What is The Idea of You about?

Based on Robinne Lee’s first book from 2017, The Idea of You tells the story of Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the lead singer of a popular boy band called August Moon. Izzy (played by Ella Rubin) is a huge fan of August Moon and brings her recently divorced mother, Sophie (Hathaway), to see their set at Coachella.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. Sophie and Hayes accidentally meet at the festival and start a secret, passionate love story. Sophie tastes the glamorous pop star life for a little while. But then, their love affair becomes super famous online, and they are forced to face the backlash from Hayes’ fans. The couple must then decide if their relationship is worth all the hardship.

    Credit: Instagram/@nicholasgalitzine

And Galitzine is not the only star making waves right now. Besides Hathaway’s role in The Idea of You, she’s getting ready to drop her LGBTQ+ thriller Eileen this December. And that’s not all—there’s another exciting project in the pipeline, Mother Mary, another pop drama with some LGBTQ+ flavor starring the fabulous Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You).

Will Galitzine be playing Harry Styles?

According to the author, The Idea of You is not directly based on Harry Styles. Lee told Vogue that it, “was never supposed to be a book about Harry Styles.” Instead, she said the book focuses on “a story about a woman approaching 40 and reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself.” However, Lee has admitted that the former One Direction member was on her mind while writing.

“Hayes is very different from Harry Styles. I think people who are aware of Harry and/or want to picture Harry will. And that’s completely fair, as the most successful British boy band of the last ten years is One Direction,” she told Goodreads.

So, it sounds like Galitzine’s Hayes is not totally based on Harry Styles, but there are certainly some similarities. If anything, viewers will get to live out their dream of falling in love with a lead singer when they see the film!

The Idea of You reportedly wrapped filming in 2022 but has not announced a release date. Hopefully, it will be on Prime Video soon.
