Apparently, Paramount Pictures is developing a remake of the coming-of-age comedy Clueless. Written and directed by Amy Heckerling, the 1995 film starred Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd.
Due to its unbelievably quotable lines and diverse characters, the film has a large and loyal fanbase, and they’re not unanimously excited for a remake.
The original film was based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma. It featured Silverstone as Cher, a wealthy and innocent high school student who finds love while playing matchmaker for her best friends, Dionne (Dash) and Tai (Murphy).

Clueless was a box office success: with a budget of $10 million, the film cashed in with $56.6 million box office. It also introduced Christian (Justin Walker), one of the first openly gay characters in a mainstream teen movie.
Sources report that writer Marquita Robinson (Netflix’s GLOW and FOX’s New Girl) is penning the script with Tracy Oliver producing.
