This Artist Is Reimagining Your Favorite Superheroes Turned Gay
Queer representation in mainstream media is rare. But what if your favorite superheroes turned gay? Sometimes you have to create (or recreate) the representation you want to see in the world. Most people could count the amount of canonically queer superheroes they know on one hand. The number shrinks down, even more, when you restrict it to canonically queer on-screen heroes. Even that is being generous and relies on you including passing references and subtle hints.

Need A Hero?
The truth is we gays are not exactly known for our subtlety. Also, more to the point, some of us are getting kind of tired of it. With that in mind, let’s talk about Zach Brunner. You may remember Brunner from his illustrated series on gay homelife. Well if you haven’t followed him yet, please take this as our social media wake-up call. Luckily for you, this intervention has yassified superheroes.

13 of Your Favorite Superhero Hunks Depicted Like Gods
We live in a world that has gone into a superhero frenzy, and there are no signs of that changing any time soon. Who can blame us? Superheroes often represent the best, and worst, in all of us. They take the complicated moral issues we all face and magnify them on a fantastical scale. Whether you’re a DC-lover or a Marvel fanboy, there’s a little something for everyone in superhero stories. And for some people, there’s a lot of something. For some of us, there are superhero hunks.

Art Worthy of A God
Take Carlos GZZ for example. The artist, graphic designer, and illustrator, certainly has an appreciation for everything super. So much so that he himself cosplays as them from time to time. But when he’s not cosplaying them, he’s illustrating them. Carlos has a keen eye for the superhuman form. After creating a stunning image of Thor entitled Thor Love and Thunder, Carlos had an idea. The artwork in question depicts Thor with rippling abs and surrounded by lightning, looking appropriately God-like. But what if all superheroes received this divine treatment? Carlos decided to make it a series.
Most of his pieces depict existing superheroes, shirtless with nothing but a length of sheer fabric to protect their modesty. Some of his pieces depict gender-swapped superheroes or lesser-known heroes depicted by hunky celebrities. Each and everyone gets the same treatment. A dramatic background, a heroic pose, and a well-placed item of clothing. Hot tip: consider joining Carlos’ Patreon account if you’d like to see the uncensored versions.

Haven’t had your fill of superhero hunks just yet? It’s worth knowing that Carlos himself has the body to go with his body of work. We can see now why his inspiration isn’t that hard to find.

8 Images of Tom Holland as Link From Legend of Zelda
The robots are getting too powerful. It’s starting to feel like we are inching closer and closer to the Terminator timeline every day. If you don’t believe me, keep reading to see these images of Tom Holland as Link from Legend of Zelda. A.I.-generated art is all the rage right now, with tools like DALL-E 2, Midjourney, and NightCafe making the rounds online. Tools like these create unique images prompted by text input using machine learning models.
A.I.-generated art has even gone on to win art competitions, much to the dismay of many human artists. These tools are guaranteed to shake up the industry, forever changing how we create, consume, and interpret art and visual media in general.

Is Tom Holland Playing Link?
Be that as it may, it can’t be denied that this technology is mind-blowing and really cool. Its potential applications are limitless and we’re already getting glimpses into what could be. Take for example these A.I. generated concept photos of a Legend of Zelda live-action film by Netflix starring Tom Holland. These incredible concept images were generated on Midjourney at the behest of Dan Leveille. Though there was some talk of Netflix pinning Tom Holland to play Link a few years back, there has been no confirmation that it’s in the works. If Netflix and Tom Holland aren’t already working on this, they should be because these images are incredible.

Leveille is the Director of Product Marketing at Deviant Art as well as the developer of Equaldex, a tool that tracks the progress of LGBTQ+ rights across the world. Given Leveille’s background, it’s hardly surprising that he has developed something of a fascination for A.I.-generated art. Some of his other prompts include a muscular Mario and a real-life Dora The Explorer.

Oh, but it gets gayer. We have yet to share Leveille’s pièce de résistance. The 34-year-old followed up on the popularity of the post with a few other Rupees. First and foremost, the crowning jewel of these images, Tom Holland as Link in his Gerudo Town garb, complete with exposed midriff and bright purple and turquoise fabric. It truly is a sight to behold.
Don’t go yet! Leveille’s Instagram is the gift that keeps on giving. Inspired by the response to this series of photos, Leveille turned to an AI-script writing program. The creator of Equaldex wrote a script in which Link reveals that he’s gay to Ganondorf. The results, generated using OpenAI’s GPT-3, need to be heard to be believed. Tom Holland’s Link is gay, confirmed.

16 Times This Artist Yassified Your Favorite Cartoon Characters
They weren’t always gay, they’re just drawn that way.
One thing about us is that we will unashamedly like almost every illustration we see of a cartoon character made gay. We may have developed a bit of a reputation for our love of gay Disney princes and Disney villains. Well, you can add Mexican artist Alex Ojeda to our list of favorite illustrators. Ojeda isn’t limiting himself to yassified Disney characters either. His roster includes comic book characters and the Scooby Doo gang. He even illustrates versions of live-action characters from Harry Potter to Marvel.
Today, however, is all about the cartoon characters—some of whom will likely give you that familiar pang of nostalgia. In an interview with Out, Ojeda explained that he draws inspiration from his love of Disney, cartoons from the 80s and 90s, superheroes, and Japanese anime. “Making sensual fusions between these themes has always pleased me,” he said. When asked about the Disney characters specifically, Ojeda explained that they were the stuff of dreams. “I imagined that when the princesses went to sleep, the princes got together to play with each other at private parties in a gay environment,” said Ojeda. “They stopped being the good guys and became the naughty guys. Who wouldn’t want to go play with them?”
If you’d like to see Ojeda’s entire body of work, some of which is a bit spicier than what we could include here, make sure to follow him on Instagram, @gayartbyalex. Keep scrolling to enjoy a sneak peek.
