What happens when a trans woman interrupts Obama? When Jennicet GutiΓ©rrez, an undocumented transgender Latino woman, interrupted President Obama during the Pride Month Celebration at the White House, he replied:
βListen, youβre in my house.β
The Secret Service promptly escorted GutiΓ©rrez from the reception. GutiΓ©rrez, who works with several LGBT organizations asked, βPresident Obama [to] release all LGBTQ in detention centers,β and to β stop the torture and abuse of trans women in detention centers.β
Obama responded:
βNo, no, no, no. Hey, listen, you are in my house. You are not going to get a good response from me by interrupting me like this. Shame on you, you shouldnβt be doing this.β
