Peacock’s horror flick They/Them traps LGBTQ+ campers in a conversion-therapy nightmare and its young cast wanted the scares to feel real. Speaking with Gayety, stars Theo Germaine, Quei Tann, and Austin Crute say they drew on personal experiences to ground each scream, turning genre tropes into pointed commentary. The actors praise writer-director John Logan for giving queer characters agency: “We’re finally the heroes, not the disposable jump-scare,” Germaine notes. An improvised cabin sing-along became the set’s emotional core, reminding everyone that joy can survive even the darkest woods.
