The “Cool for the Summer” singer changed their Instagram bio to they/them/she/her.
Demi Lovato said she is using she/her pronouns again during an appearance on the “Spout” podcast.
The 29-year-old came out as non-binary last year on another podcast, “4D With Demi Lovato.”
βOver the past year-and-a-half Iβve been doing some healing and some reflective work, and through this work Iβve had the revelation that I identify as non-binary,β Lovato said.
βWith that said, Iβll officially be changing my pronouns to they/them,β they continued. βI feel this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.β

Though the singer silently changed her pronouns on Instagram months ago, she is now opening up about the change. They said the decision to go by she/her pronouns again is because she is “such a fluid person.”

βWhen I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said βwomenβ and βmen,β I didnβt feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didnβt feel necessarily like a woman,β they explained. βI didnβt feel like a man. I just felt like a human.β

Lovato said using they/them pronouns was about “feeling human at your core.”
βRecently, Iβve been feeling more feminine, and so Iβve adopted βshe/herβ again,β she revealed. βBut I think whatβs important is, like, nobodyβs perfect.
βEveryone messes up pronouns at some point, and especially when people are learning. Itβs just all about respect.β
