It looks like a Beauty and the Beast prequel is happening sooner than initially thought.
Josh Gad, who plays LeFou in the live-action, sat down with ComicBook to dish about the project featuring Luke Evans as Gaston.
He gushed, saying, “we’re still planning on shooting this spring, and the scripts are incredible. The music is unbelievable, all-new songs by Alan Menken, we’re casting now.”

Here’s what we know.
The series, called “Little Town,” will air on Disney+ sometime next year. The show got its name from a lyric in the classic song “Belle” which was featured in the 2017 live-action film. The show will also showcase the friendship of LeFou and Gaston. It’s unknown if the show will dive into LeFou’s undeniable crush on his friend. Gad fought to include LeFou’s sexuality in the original film, but when asked about the new series, he didn’t give a direct answer.

“You’re going to have to tune in when this show airs to see what we’re working up, but in the process of working on it, we’re asking ourselves every relevant question about these characters and endeavoring to do right by them and by this world,” he shared on the Just for Variety podcast.
Will LeFou Be Gay?
“I think we have origin stories that are unbelievably exciting because they’re unexpected. And I think ‘expect the unexpected is all I can really say. And not just with regard to LeFou and Gaston, but to a lot of the new characters that we’re introducing.” The other includes LeFou’s step-sister Tilly, who Briana Middleton will play.
We are excited to watch their story unfold!
