In a new 2024 recap video posted by Halsey on Instagram, fans can’t help but wonder if they secretly tied the knot with actor Avan Jogia. Here’s everything we know about their adorable romance.

A Barcelona Beginning

Although the dating rumors didn’t surface until September 2023, eagle-eyed fans spotted Halsey and Jogia vacationing together in Barcelona months earlier. Turns out, the stunning Spanish city was more than just a backdrop—it became a pivotal part of their love story.

Fall 2023: PDA Central

By September, the pair were photographed getting cozy in Los Angeles, practically sending the internet into a frenzy. A source spilled to Us Weekly, “Halsey and Avan are spending a lot of time together. He’s been with her day and night, running errands and showing his support.”

October 2023 brought an Instagram hard launch: Halsey posted a series of snaps from the Luis De Javier fashion show, two of which featured Avan. And yes, they were holding hands—peak soft-romance vibes. Later that month, they slayed Halloween dressed as a siren and a sailor. Halsey captioned their costume reveal, “Here is a lighthouse in the middle of the deep,” referencing lyrics from their song Lighthouse. Iconic!

A Fresh Start After Heartbreak

Their relationship followed Halsey’s split from Alev Aydin, with whom they share a son, Ender, born in July 2021. Despite filing for custody in April 2023, sources confirmed the former couple remained amicable and focused on co-parenting.

Halsey Says She ‘Regrets Coming Back’ Following ‘Lucky’ Backlash

“My own fans are hands down meaner to me than any other people on the planet,” the singer wrote on Tumblr.

Singer-songwriter Halsey isn’t holding back. The three-time Grammy nominee addressed the criticism surrounding her new single Lucky by calling out fans for being “meaner” than anyone else.

On July 26, Halsey dropped Lucky, the first single from their fifth studio album. However, it was not the reaction she was expecting. “My own fans are hands down meaner to me than any other people on the planet. Not speaking for all of you, of course,” she wrote on her Tumblr, tiredandlonelymuse, on July 30.

Halsey continued, “It used to be just a minority that were awful to me and now it seems like a majority have only stuck around to chime in occasionally with their opinion of how much they hate me or how awful I am.” She added, “It’s hard to want to engage in a space that is completely devoid of any kindness, sympathy, patience, or, to be honest, human decency.”

Halsey’s Health Update

In June, Halsey revealed she has been privately dealing with several health issues, including lupus and a rare white-blood-cell disorder. That same month, she shared her struggles in The End, her first solo single in two years, singing, ““Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain.”

“I almost lost my life.” Halsey continued in her Tumblr post, “I am not gonna do anything that doesn’t make me happy anymore. I can’t spiritually afford it. When I got sick, all I could think about was getting better so I could come back and be a part of this again, but I don’t even know what this is anymore and I want to crawl in a hole. I regret coming back.”

Britney Spears Responds

Lucky samples Britney Spears’ 2000 hit of the same name, and details Halsey’s battle with illness and her struggles with fame. “I told everybody I was fine for a whole damn year, and that’s the biggest lie of my career,” she sings.

Although Spears gave Halsey permission to use the sample, the Toxic singer initially criticized the music video on social media, saying she felt “harassed, violated, and bullied” by it. However, Spears later retracted her comments, posting, “Fake news. That was not me on my phone. I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it.”

In response, Halsey wrote, “And I love Britney. I always have and always will. You were the first person who ever made me realise what it means to feel inspired. You continue to inspire me every day.”

Halsey revealed snippets of their medical journey in a series of heartfelt videos and photos. While they didn’t disclose their exact diagnosis right away, they tagged The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Lupus Research Alliance.

One poignant clip shows Halsey, who uses she/they pronouns, massaging their legs and admitting, “I feel like an old lady.” Talking to someone off-camera, they said, “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick. “In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life.”

Despite the rocky start, Halsey has managed to get their health under control with the help of dedicated doctors. They shared, “After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.”

Halsey ended the update with a heartfelt message to her fans, expressing their eagerness to return to the stage. “I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all. Singing and screaming my heart out.”

Openness Through the Years

Halsey has always been transparent about their health. Back in 2016, they opened up about their endometriosis diagnosis. Fast forward to 2022, and they revealed they were also dealing with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

“I’ve learned that if I want to speak about something going on in my life, to make the narrative positive rather than negative,” Halsey shared with Entertainment Weekly in 2017. “So rather than being like, ‘My life sucks because I had to have surgery for my endometriosis,’ [I should] be like, ‘Hey, guys, I’m recovering from my surgery, and how cool is it that I still get to be a performer?’”
