Speaking with Gayety, the Oscar winner says she was drawn to Tammy’s “radical, unconditional acceptance,” especially her 1985 on-air interview with AIDS patient Steve Pieters. Chastain hopes the film reminds audiences that genuine faith and LGBTQ+ allyship can coexist—and inspire new generations to lead with empathy.
