The season three finale showed T.K. Strand (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos Reyes (Rafael L. Silva) celebrating their engagement with their best friends. In the previous episode, T.K. sweetly proposed to his boyfriend by waking him up in the middle of the night and demanding they finish his will.
“It will be easy because I’ll just leave everything to my husband. Marry me,” he said on the verge of tears. Let’s just say, there was not a dry eye at home. These two have gone through so much and deserve a happy ending.
However, they still have one more bump to get through to secure their dream wedding. In the season premiere episode, Carlos is having lunch with his mother when he gets a call from his dream wedding venue. They had a cancellation and can give them the reservation, but it’s in eight weeks. Though Carlos’ mom is elated by the news, Carlos seems worried.
“You haven’t told T.K. the truth?” she asks him.
The truth about what? It turns out Carlos is married. To a woman!

Will T.K. and Carlos Still Get Married?
Later in the episode, Carlos explains to T.K. that he married his best friend Iris Blake years ago. She has Schizophrenia and is using Carlos’ health insurance through their arrangement. But with only eight weeks before the wedding, Carlos and T.K. have to figure out what to do next.
Absolutely howling at the fact TK thought Michelle was Carlos’ wife????. The way he comforts him and reassures him that everything is going to be okay????. His character development is amazing❤️. pic.twitter.com/zYZHHBPEue

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lone Star co-creator Tom Minnear said this twist has been a long time coming.
“There was something always in the back of my head that they had a failed romance of some kind when he was still questioning, when they were much younger,” said Minear. “And we felt like that Iris story never quite got its full resolution, so maybe there’s more to be played there. Lyndsy Fonseca is so lovely and so wonderful and so funny and such a great dramatic actress, so it just felt like there was a reservoir of talent there that we could tap. And boy, were we right, she is fabulous.”
