See the Rise of Queen Charlotte in Netflix’s New Teaser Trailer

The Bridgerton spin-off we have been waiting for is only a few months away.

Queen Charlotte is finally getting the recognition she deserves in the new Netflix series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Fans first met the sassy and scheming ruler in the first season of Bridgerton. Everyone in the Ton respects the Queen, but few know her story or what happened to her husband, King George.

According to the official tagline for the limited series, Queen Charlotte will follow her rise to prominence and power. “This Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”

Openly queer actor Golda Rosheuvel plays Queen Charlotte, and actress India Amarteifio will portray her younger self. She shares the screen with the handsome Corey Mylchreest, who plays her love interest, King George.

Not only will the series tell the story of Charlotte, it will also give insight into the stories of two other powerful dames in the Ton: Lady Danbury and Violet Bridgerton. Their younger selves will be played by Arsema Thomas and Connie Jenkins-Greig, respectively. Also joining the cast is Sam Clemmett as a young Brimsley.

Each season of Bridgerton is based on the novels by Julia Quinn and follows the love stories of each of the Bridgerton siblings.  Season three will dive into the romantic adventures between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. The series is written by Shonda Rhimes and directed by Tom Verica.

See Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on Netflix on May 4.
