“What do I win?!?! A hotel?!?!” Ellen DeGeneres wrote online.
Since Paris Hilton and her husband Carter Reum welcomed a baby boy into the world, fans have been eager to learn what the socialite named her son. Many celebrities give their kids unusual names, so no one knew what to expect from Hilton’s firstborn. Except for Ellen DeGeneres.
In January 2022, DeGeneres spoke with the “Stars Are Blind” singer about expanding her family and even asked if she had names picked out for her future kids. Hilton said yes and revealed that she plans to name each of her children after a location. When she has a daughter, Hilton revealed she will name her London Marilyn Hilton Reum. However, she refrained from sharing her ideas for her future son’s name.
“I’m not going to say yet because I’m afraid someone will steal the name.”
Of course, DeGeneres took this as a challenge and began naming random countries and cities to see if she could guess correctly. Right before the commercial break, DeGeneres guessed the name Phoenix.
Hilton still refused to answer but she did look off to the audience and laugh at her guess.
Then on January 24, Hilton shared a photo of her son’s tiny hand wrapped around hers. It was not until February that she revealed her son’s name on an episode of her “This is Paris” podcast. “My beautiful baby boy’s name is Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum,” she said, much to DeGeneres’ delight.

The comedian then took to Instagram to celebrate her skills and tell everyone that she guessed the name correctly. She shared a clip from the interview followed by the clip from Hilton’s podcast announcing the name.
“I named @ParisHilton’s baby!” she captioned the post. “What do I win?!?! A hotel?!?!”

Hilton responded to DeGeneres’ post with a series of heart emojis shared on her Instagram story. Later in her podcast, she expanded on why she chose the name Phoenix.
“I’ve been planning my children’s names for years and years,” she said.
“Over a decade ago I thought of this amazing name,” she continued. “It’s such a beautiful name, it’s so unique. I love that it is not only a city but it also has other meanings that are just beautiful. I really believe that names have power and we wanted a name for our baby boy that was uniquely remarkable.”
