Austin Abrams thinks Jacob Elordi’s Euphoria character Nate Jacobs needs a boyfriend.
Austin Abrams, who plays Ethan Daley on Euphoria, recently told Nerds of Color he hopes to perform in a love scene with Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs. “I don’t even know what that would look like, but I would love to do a scene with him,” said Abrams. Abrams hopes Nate can explore his sexuality in the forthcoming season three of Euphoria.
Abrams discussed Nate’s repetitive toxic relationships in the interview: “I know, bad idea, but I wanna see… I don’t even know what that interaction would look like. That’d be such a weird interaction, especially after doing the play. I don’t know; I just wonder how he’d react to my character.”

In the last two episodes of season two, Ethan performed in Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) school play, which the characters quickly learned was based on their lives. The show’s two-part finale climaxed with a performance of “Holding Out for a Hero,” which featured Ethan portraying Nate singing and dancing in a steamy locker room.
Is Jacob Elordi’s Nate Jacobs Gay?
Nate’s straightness is questionable throughout the first two seasons, to say the least.
While he’s one of Euphoria‘s most unlikeable characters, Lexi faces criticism for “outing” him as queer to the entire school in the finale of season two. Nate is so upset by the locker-room number that he broke up with Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) after angrily denouncing the play as “homophobic.”

In a season three recap, Abrams said he would like to see one character find happiness. “I would love Nate to like … I don’t know, maybe he needs a boyfriend or something nice.” He continued, “Maybe even a fantasy episode, where he goes on a nice date and has a picnic or something.”
Does Jacob Elordi Want Nate Jacobs to Be Gay?
In an interview with The Wrap in 2019, Elordi said he has a “world of thoughts” on Nate’s sexuality. The 24-year-old actor stated, “it’s something that I dwelled on a lot leading up to and during the show; I think he develops as a person as the series progresses.”
Elordi did not clarify his thoughts on his character’s identity. He concluded, “As for his sexuality, I can’t say.”
Unsurprisingly, HBO confirmed Euphoria will return for season three; the season two premiere became the most-watched premium cable episode since the finale of Game of Thrones.
In an interview with Deadline, Francesca Orsi, the executive vice president of HBO Programming, talked about the series’ success. Orsi said, “the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken season two to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form while maintaining its heart.”
She continued, “We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season three.”
You can watch Euphoria season one and two on HBO Max.
