The first Pride was over half a century ago, yet many of the debates haven’t changed much. If you spend any amount of time engaging with online queer discourse, you may have seen some people calling for “no kink at Pride.” There are many think pieces about this subject, but like it or not kink has been a part of Pride since its inception. This year, NOLA Pride was no exception. As Pride becomes more socially acceptable — and commodified — so too come the pearl-clutching masses. Many now fear that kink will be forced out entirely.

Kink is Still Kicking at NOLA Pride
