Another day, another LGBTQ+ series is getting the boot.
HBO Max announced Wednesday that Doom Patrol and Titans, two of their DC Comic series, will end after their fourth seasons.
“While these will be the final seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol, we are very proud of these series and excited for fans to see their climactic endings,” an HBO Max spokesperson said. Both series were rated highly by critics and received praise for their LGBTQ+ representation.
Doom Patrol had multiple queer characters – including Larry Trainor, played by out actor Matt Bomer, and Crazy Jane, played by Diane Guerrero, to name a few.

As for Titans, this season brought the addition of Tim Drake, AKA gay Robin, and his partner Bernard. Last year, Robin came out as bisexual in the comic book series “Batman: Urban Legends” and will kiss his longtime best friend and crush on the cover of an upcoming issue. The show also starred trans actor Chella Man as Deathstroke’s bisexual son Jericho and lesbian supervillain Mercy Graves (Natalie Gumede).

Fortunately, Deadline reports both shows planned their remaining six episodes to give the series a proper ending. Out producer and creator Greg Berlanti was one of the producers on both shows, and we hope to see a happy ending for some of our beloved characters.

James Gunn Takes Over DC
The series cancellations come after DC Entertainment announced a new creative takeover by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Gunn took to Twitter Wednesday night to clarify that he had no say in the decision to cancel Doom Patrol and Titans.
“The decision to end the series precedes us. But I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both shows.”
