Let the countdown begin!
The modern reimagining of the British series Queer as Folk created by Russell T. Davies is coming to Peacock this June! From creator/director Stephen Dunn and executive producer Jaclyn Moore (Dear White People), Queer as Folk explores a diverse group of friends in New Orleans, their lives transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.
“I wanted to create a new groundbreaking version of this show for this moment. Our new Queer as Folk is set in New Orleans – one of the most unique queer communities in North America – and I am immensely proud that the new series is comprised of an electric ensemble of fresh characters that mirror the modern global audience,” said creator Stephen Dunn.

The reboot also has a stacked cast of diverse actors including Devin Way (Greyβs Anatomy, Station 19), Fin Argus (Clouds, The Gifted), Jesseβ―James Keitel (Big Sky), CG (Acts of Crime), Johnny Sibilly (Hacks, Pose), and Ryan OβConnell (Special, Will & Grace). TV legend Kim Cattrall – known for her role as Samantha in Sex and the City – and Nyle DiMarco will also star.

“If there’s one person who is able to see Queer as Folk and feel less alone, or who now feels more supported and seen, our job is done,” Dunn continued. “In the true spirit of the original, our show doesnβt shy away from the harsh realities of our community, but above all else, the series is about people who live vibrant, vital, unapologetically queer lives.”
Queer as Folk is coming this summer on June 9.
Reimagining Queer As Folk
βLike most queer β90s kids, I had a unique relationship with the original Queer as Folk,” said Dunn. “Growing up, I was desperate for any sort of connection with people like me. It was the first time I really felt seen. The show offered a new paradigm – one where we could accept and celebrate queer love, families, and communities on a global stage. It was truly iconic. I am honored that Russell T. Davies, the creator of the original series, entrusted me to continue this legacy.”

In a statement, Davies said he’s proud of the 1999 series but recognized how times have changed, especially in the queer community.
βI thought it was about time the title belonged to a whole new generation,” Davies also said. “The 2022 show is more diverse, more wild, more free, more angry – everything a queer show should be.β
